Abstract

A working platform stands on height - adjustable trestles 2 each having telescopically adjustable feet, and has mesh side panels 7 for safety; two units may be joined as at 6 for greater length and a trapdoor 8 may be provided for access from underneath. The platform stands on rollers 4.

Description

2341414 EXPANDING WORK PLATFORM This invention is to provide a safe
working platform at different heicrhts within the It> lt constraints of its' construction.
Of the many forms of equipment, this design has many permutations with regard to shape, connectivity and ability to remain stable on many surfaces. Many aspects of the desion are constrained by Health & Safety Executive directives and British Standards such as B.S. 1137. Part Three. The attributes it possesses are the lightweight. ease of use, expandability and minimal size when collapsed for transportation. It also features a means of simple location of the working platform(s).
I The following points are noted on the accompanying drawings:
1:1 1= 11:) 2/ Extendible supports.
3/ Unique fabricated hinge and support.
4/ Unique rofler/guide.
51 Unique locking mechanism.
6/ Infinite scope for expansion 7/ Unique fully en closed (fr safety) mesh panels. 8/ Trapdoor in floor panel for access and egress. 9/ Independently adjustable feet.
Referring to the accompanying drawings, the apparatus is operated thus:
-:1 t Figure 1 shows the main device for supporting the working platform(s). Figure 2 shows the working platform upon extended supports. Figure 3 shows the intended function and modular construction.

Claims (1)

  1. I/ A simple self-supporting apparatus with means of adjustment for working at various heights on many different and/or undulating surfaces. Rollers and guides for easy assembly and simple locking mechanism to safely secure the working platform(s). FuUy meshed side panels for safety and detachable for ease of transportation and assembly. Provision is made for additional platforms to be securel affixed to an existing platform incorporating as many adjustable Y 11 legs as would be required for reasons of safety and stability.
A simple apparatus as claimed in Claim I wherein telescopic legs may be fixed independently of each other to provide stability.
A simple apparatus as claimed in Claims 1 and 2 wherein a fabricated box and hinge arrangement are combined to provide the independent adjustment and method of assemblv.
4/ A simple roller and guide mecharlism as claimed in Claim I providing for easy placement of the working platform itself.
51 A simple locking mechanism as claimed in Claim I and Claim 4 wherein the work,ng platform may be adequately secured in pre-determined positions.
6/ A method of joinmg numerous working platforms as claimed in Claim I Z wherein many such working platforms of Claim I of various shapes may be combined.
J/ A means of securely placing side panels as claimed in Claim I wherein the simple provision of a hinge may allow alternative methods of access and egress.
8/ A method of access and egress additional to that as claimed in Claim 7 wherein a trapdoor arrangement permits entry through the floor of [he working platform(s).
9/ A device for providing access and working platform(s) of various heights substantially as described herein with reference to the enclosed drawings.
