Abstract
A dozer blade attachment A-E converts a tracked or wheeled backhoe excavator into a bulldozer. No additional hydraulic system is required. To attach the dozer blade to the excavator, at least one tooth on the bucket is inserted into socket E and the blade D is lifted to locate pins A into brackets B on the excavator undercarriage. Blade height is adjusted in use via the bucket teeth. When the blade is not in use, it is held off the ground by means of a chain between the back of the blade and a hook (F, Fig 3) on the undercarriage.
Description
2341167 QUICK HITCH DOZER BIADE TO MOUNT ON TRACKED OR WHEELED 360 DEGREE
HYDRAULIC EXCAVATOR Quick hitch dozer blade 'D' attaches to excavator by welding slotted brackets S' to tracked or wheeled under-carriage frame.
Blade is mounted by means of normal excavator arm and bucket operation in the following sequence:- One or more teeth in centre of bucket digging face are inserted into open socket end 'E' and blade is lifted to locate pins W into sockets W and secured with retaining pins 'C'.
2. Blade is raised or lowered to required height when in use by means of bucket teeth being inserted in socket 'E'.
3. To keep blade raised from the ground when not in use, a heavy duty chain welded to back of blade is attached to hook 'F' which is welded to top of undercarriage.
4. When chain is unhooked it is wound round stem of socket 'E'.
Claims (7)
1. An adjustable blade, detachable attachment converting a normal tracked or wheeled 360 degree excavator into a multi-purpose excavator/grader/dozer which requires no additional hydraulic fittings/systems to the standard machine.
2. Only requires the welding on of two steel brackets W as per drawing 2/
3. 3. Blade can be fitted by single operator from cab and then secured by pins T' as per drawing 2/3.
4. Fittings allow operator to view blade at all times while in operation and is fully adjustable from the cab as per drawing 113.
5. When not in use the blade is secured at safe height by chain fromE'toT' as per drawing 3/3.
z Amendments to the claims have been filed as follows 1. A detachable blade attachment which converts a normal tracked or wheeled 3 60 degree excavator into a multi-purpose excavator/grader/dozer without requiring any additional hydraulic fittings, the blade attachment being adapted to be connected, when in use., to the bucket and to at least one bracket'B' on the vehicle undercarriage, the blade attachment comprising a blade and a frame connected to the blade, the frame including a socket for engagement by one or more teeth on the bucket and at least one arTn for connection to a corresponding bracket W on the vehicle undercarriage.
2. A detachable blade attachment as claimed in Claim 1 wherein the frame includes two arms and the attachment only requires the welding to the undercarriage frame of the excavator of two steel brackets U as per drawing 2/3 which are adapted to accept the fitting of blade mounting pins at the end of each arm and of hook F above brackets W which is adapted to accept a retaining chain as per drawing 3/3 when the blade is not in use.
3. A detachable blade attachment as claimed in Claim 1 which can be fitted solely by the operator from the cab of the excavator by connecting the digging edge of the excavator bucket to the socket'E' and lifting the complete structure to locate into brackets W and then secured by retaining pins 'C' to the brackets W as per drawing 2/3 while the bucket remains connected to socket 'E' during operation to control the height of the blade.
3 4. A detachable blade attachment as claimed in Claim 1 which, when fitted as claimed in Claim 3, allows the excavator operator to view the blade at all times from the cab of the excavator while in operation and is fully adjustable from the cab of the excavator by means of the excavator bucket located into socket 'E' as per drawing 1/3.
5. A detachable blade attachment as claimed in Claim 1 which, when not in use, can be secured at a safe height by heavy duty chain links from socket 'E' to hook F as per drawing 3/3 to allow for travel and normal machine functions.
6. A detachable blade attachment as claimed in Claim 1 which, when not in use as claimed in Claim 5, allows for full 360 degree working movement of the tracked or wheeled excavator.
7. A detachable blade attachment substantially as described herein with reference to drawings 1/3 to 3/3.
