Description
2340102 ADAPTABLE SIGN POLE GALLOWS CLAMP LIFTING DEVICE This invention
relates to a sign face lifting device.
Road traffic signs are time consuming and expensive to assemble, often requiring the use of a crane to assemble the sections of sign on location, and possible road closures. This sign face lifting device enables personnel to erect the Sign without the use of a crane and in some cases eliminate the need for road closures.
This lifting device comprises of steel box sections cut to size and welded together to form a gallows type bracket with one length of steel box section shorter than the other. The box sections being of different gauge, have been constructed with special flanges welded on to give extra strength when used for different operations (shown in fig. III). The box sections have been drilled to adapt to sign posts as required and can be dismantled and reassembled in minutes. For Fig III spacer brackets and longer bolts are required. The box sections are clamped together with steel bolts and welded hand tightening box spanners (no spanners required). The device will fit on top of any motorway sign pole, sizes ftom 140mm to 500mm poles.
FIG I Shows clamp in operation on square, rectangular or circular steel sign posts. The larger box beam with de-mountable steel blocks removed for use inside smaller diameter posts.
FIG 11 Shows clamp ready for attachment to RSJs with anti slip flanae at back of shorter length of box beam.
C> FIG III Shows the clamp ready to fit onto old specification motorway concrete sign posts with steel de-mountables mounted and steel spacers clipped into place.
I Note Fig III requires longer bolts than Fig I and Fig II to suit width of concrete Posts.
2 I FIG I I Main vertical box beam.
2 Smaller adaptable box beam.
3 Smaller gauge horizontal box beam.
4 Smaller gauge diagonal box beam welded support.
Movable lifting eyes with nuts and washers.
6 All round welds for extra support.
7 Lifting handle and basket hook.
8 Bolt end nuts.
9 fixed box spanners.
Box spanner hand tightening levers.
I I RSJ anti-slip flange going over back flange of post.
12 Typical steel motorway sign post.
13 Rebated angles for adapting to Fig III concrete post.
14 Drilled holes for adapting to Fig II.
3 FIG 11 15 De-mountable steel boxes with Alan screws. 16 Typical shackle attachment. 17 Typical pulley attachment. 18 Quick release lifting bracket that fixes onto sign face holding bracket. 19 Typical rolled steel joist (RSJ). 20 Welded on steel sections. 21 Drilled holes for adapting to Fig 1.
en FIG III 22 Smaller gauge box beam with welded end plates.
23 Steel spacer tube with welded end flanges (one piece).
24 Steel spacer with welded end flanges (two piece).
High tensile steel bolts.
26 Drilled holes for adapting to Fig 1.
