Abstract
The device comprises a unit containing a circuit board including a microchip storing the sounds to be generated. The circuitry is connected to a switch which is preferably pressure actuated and connected to the vehicle's vacuum hose. Alternatively, the switch is manually actuated. Upon actuation of the switch, the stored sound signals are transmitted to one or two speakers mounted under the vehicle's bonnet. The generated sound replicates the sound emitted by a dump valve or waste gate on a turbocharged combustion engine. It is also possible to replicate the sound of a Formula 1 car by making the device responsive to the revs of the car engine. Other distinctive engine sounds may also be replicated, eg. those of a big V-8 engine.
Description
2338584 1 ELECTRONIC DUMMY DUMP VALVE This is an electronic or mechanical
gadget as it were, that will simulate and replicate the sound emitted from a dump valve or waste gate on a turbocharged combustion engine. EG- the k.,hooshing sound created bythe sudden release of air as the throttle is closed. A circuit board including an amplifier and a microchip to store the relative sounds "Ill be mounted within a box, electronically, connected to a speaker, and may later be built within a tannoy style speaker much the same as a siren on an alarm. The sound will be triggered by avacuum pressure switch 'tee'd into the car's vaccum, hose and the system will powered by the car's own battery and or own batteries along with the car's own alternator. It will be switchable from within the passenger compartment by the occupants of the car. A volume sMtch will be available for the desired decibel (dB) output and it will be capable of emitting sound within the legal sound limit of a car's exhaust. The sound will be emitted from a tannoy style speaker mounted under the bonnet for maximum effect. A pair of these speakers may be fitted if needed. This can be used on any car, boat or cycle, whether it is turbocharged, normally aspirated, manual or auto- transmissioned.
2 This electronic de-sIce will be also used in other applications though simpler in workings...
1 To replicate the sound of a Formulal car by linking a simulated sound to the revs of the car's engine. The sound will in ratio, increase in pitch to replicate the high revs of the famWar race car sound, probably three times the car's existing revs. eg. @ 6,00Orpm the new sound will be emitting 1 8,00Orpm sound.
2 To repilicate other different distinctive engine sounds, like a big V8 engine for instance.

Claims (12)
1 This is a device, electronic and or manual, to simulate the sound of a dump valve or waste gate on a turbocharged engine.
2 The sound is stored on a micro-chip.
3 The sound is amplified electronically and emitted through a speaker once triggered.
4 The device can be powered by the vehicle it is fitted to or it can carry it's own power supply.
The volulne can or cannot be altered.
6 The device can be switched on and off.
7 People who want this sound but have not got a turbocharged engine can fit it to mimic the sound.
8 With it's own power supply, this device can even be fitted to a bicycle or go-kart or other non-powered vehicle for instance.
9 It can be fitted anywhere in the car or any-where on the desired vehicle/object.
It could even be fitted to a turbocharged car, again to mimic the dump valve or wastegate sound.
11 It is not designed to give added power in any way.
12 It i,,.111 not harm the workings of the car in any- way if it is fitted correctly.

12 It will not harm the workings of the car in any way if it is fitted correctly.
13 A drawing is attached to show components and workings.
Amendments to the claims have been filed as follows AMMENDED CLAIMS FOR... ELECTRONIC DUMMY DUMP VALVE 1 A device for simulating the sound of a dump valve or waste gate on a turbocharged combustion engine means to store the sound, speaker means to produce the sound in response to signals recieved from the storing means and a vacuum pressure s".itch adapted to be connected into thevacuum. hose of a combustion engine, the storing means being triggered to send the stored sounds to the speaker me-ans in response to operating of the s, .Itch.
2 A device as claimed in claim 1 wherein the switch is also operable by the rate of signals from the electronic pulse means as delivered to the spark plug means enabling the combustion mixture to be ignited, thus the storing means being triggered to send the stored sounds to the speaker means in response to operating of the switch.
3 The sound is amplified electronically and emitted through the speaker once triggered.
4 The device can be powered by the vehicle it is fitted to or it can carry it's own power supply.
The volume can or cannot be altered.
6 The device can be si,,.itched on and off.
7 People who want this sound but have not got a turbocharged engine can fit it to mimic the sound.
8 With it's own power supply, this device can even be fitted to a bicycle or go-kart or other non-powered vehicle for instance.
9 It can be fitted anywhere in the car or anywhere on the desired vehicle/object.
It could even be fitted to a turbocharged car, again to minlic the dump valve or wastegate sound.
11 It is not designed to give added power in any way.
