Abstract

The invention comprises a sterile, disposable insert for insertion into the auditory canal prior to insertion of an ear inspection device or otoscope. Use of the insert serves to prevent cross-infection.

2338418 Protective Insert For Use With Ear Inspection Devices This invention relates to the prevention of cross infection when using an ear inspection device [otoscopel to visually inspect the auditory canal to the outer ear.
It is current practise that the part of an ear inspection device that is inserted into the auditory canal is a permanent fixture on the device and is used repeatedly for examining different patients.
According to the present invention there is provided a disposable sterile insert that is inserted into the auditory canal prior to the insertion of the ear inspection device.
Figure 1 Illustrates how the insert, 1 is inserted into the auditory canal, 2 prior to the insertion of the ear inspection device.

  1. This invention is a sterile disposable device that may used in the ear [auditory canal 1 to prevent cross infection.
