Abstract
Paint is delivered to a roller, or to passages in a brush handle A leading to bristles, from a sealed, squeezable, transparent plastic bag via tubing. The bag may have a shoulder strap, and with the tubing be disposable. The exit from the bag comprises a non-return valve, and the open tube end may be plugged.
Description
2338178 1.
PAINT BAG STORAGE AND APPLICATION SYSTEM This invention relates to a paint storage and application system using variously shaped sealed pliable bags.
NQ1c, Throughout this application, paint is taken to mean Paints, Lacquers, Stains, Dyes, Preservatives or any coating normally described as being "Painted On".
Paints and lacquers etc. are normally stored and used from containers of a solid construction with removable lids. These containers are universally known as "tins" although they can be made not only from metal but also hard plastic. When open, paint tins allow air to come into contact with the contents causing oxidation. Air contaminants can also reach the paint. Spillage can also easily occur if care is not taken by the user. Overspill around the lip of the can, also makes themmessyto use and difficult to re-seal, This invention provides a paint filled sealed pliable bag system with an integral non-return valve leading to a specially adapted painting utensil via a delivery pipe.
A description of the operation of the invention follows with the reference to the attached drawing where Figure 1 shows a possible shape for the larger type bag. Figure 2 shows a possible shape for the smaller bag. Figure 3 shows a cross section of an adapted paint brush.
1. The pre-filled bag is manipulated between the fingers to ensure the paint is thoroughly mixed.
2. The painting attachment i.e. brush, roller etc. is fixed to the outlet pipe.
3. The bag is gripped along its lower portion cupping the hand around the bottom edge and placing the thumb through the hole provided. This produces a temporary entrapped paint compartment in the area below the line B - B. When the bag is squeezed the hand encompasses this lower compartment producing considerably more extra pressure than could be normally expected and pushes the paint through its only point of escape, the non-return valve, travelling onwards to the point of application in this case the paint brush bristles. The paint is then applied in the usual manner. Re-squeezing the bag injects more paint which is held in the pipe by the non return valve. Gravity siphons the paint from the top to lower sections of the bag when the hand pressure is released 4. If painting is completed with excess paint still in the bag then the painting attachment can be removed for cleaning. The delivery hose plug (not shown) can be re-installed in the outer end of the pipe and the paint bag stored until next required.
5. If the bag is empty the painting attachment can be removed for cleaning and re-use. The bag including delivery hose is then discarded.

Claims (11)
1. (The invention provides a sealed pliable bag system to which is connected a non-return valve leading to a specially adapted painting utensil via a delivery pipe.
2. A paint filled pliable bag system claimed in claim 1 wherein a variety of sizes and shapes can be manufactured-Larger sizes requiring the support of an over-the-shoulder strap and all having the capability of being sealed.
3. A paint filled pliable bag system claimed in 1 and 2 wherein the bag is provided with an integral non return valve.
4. A paint filled pliable bag system as previously claimed where the shape of the bag produces a temporary entrapped cavity when the hand is properly placed the non return valve being the only outlet.
5. A paint filled pliable bag system claimed in 1 to 4 where hand pressure alone forces the contents from the bag.
6. A paint filled pliable bag system as claimed in 1 to 5 where pliable bags provided can be painted, stenciled or otherwise marked with the manufacturers / product names or other relevant data.
7. A paintfilled pliable bag system as previously claimed where the bags will have the ability to display the colour of the contents without the need for opening.
8. A paint filled pliable bag system claimed in 1 to 7 wherein a nonreturn valve is fitted to the outlet arrangement.
9. A paint filled pliable bag system as in previous claims wherein a pipe ftom a non-return valve leads to a specially adapted painting utensil and having the ability to be re-sealed at its outer end.
10. A paint filled pliable bag system as in claims 1 to 9 where a specially adapted painting utensil (brush/roller etc.) with the ability of connecting to the outlet of the delivery pipe and also having the capability to transfer paint from that pipe to the point of application is provided.
11. A paint bag storage and application system substantially as described herein with reference to Figures 1 to 3 of the attached drawing.
