Abstract

A golf putter comprises a striking face D, an angled mirror surface B and guide lines C across the face of the mirror. When the image of the flag or other target is aligned with the guide line the putter face is correctly positioned for the stroke.

Description

2336786 1 PRACTICE PUTTER i he invention relates to a practice putter
clubhead which incorporates a design concept which ensures that, if the putter is used in a specific manner on a flat surface within approximately 20fi of the target hole and vertical flag, the golf ball so struck will enter that hole.
The main putting problem experienced by all golfers is that of self confidence in knowing for sure that the impact face of the putter clubhead is aligned in the intended direction, a problem evident even on the shortest of putts. The invention will consolidate the golfef s confidence as, with its use in practice, he will know that putter clubhead face will be correctly positioned in relation to its target.
The invention incorporates certain design principles which will ensure that the putter clubhead is facing the target precisely. The desired result will be achieved when the top of the putter clubhead, directly below the golfer's eye, has a reflective surface layer sloping at an angle of 45 to the horizontal base of the putter so that a marked central line on this sloping surface will coincide with the reflection of the vertical target flag andlor its base hole. This marked central line on the upper sloping mirror surface should extend downwards to the bottom of the putter clubhead impact face and should constitute the contact point from which the golf ball win be struck. At this impact juncture the face of the putter clubhead will be at an angle of 90' to the target hole.
The general design and material of the Practice Putter clubhead is arbitrary provided that its top sloping surface is an efficient reflector aligned at an angle of 45 to the clubhead's central base plane and that it incorporates a central marked line extending to the base of the clubheads's impact face and at 90' to this face's horizontal base line.
A preferred description of the invention now follows with reference to the accompanying drawing, Figure 1, A Practice Putter Clubhead, in which
A. Shows the golfer's eye positioned vertically above the putter clubhead.
B.Top reflective surface sloping at an angle of 45' to the central base line of the putter's clubhead.
C..Central marked line reflecting target flag pole/ hole and extending to impact face base.
D-Impact Face of putter clubhead. This can be inclined inward by a few degrees as is customary with most putter clubheads in current use.
E.Target Hole and Flag.

PRACTICE PUTTER The invention relates to a putter clubhead incorporating a particular design concept which ensures that, if the putter is used correctly in specific manner on a flat surface within approximately six metres of the target hole and flag, the golf ball so struck will enter the hole. The material and general design of the putter clubhead are arbitrary provided that the particular design concept, which is basically static in nature, is incorporated.
