Abstract
The blades 7, of a ceiling fan are provided with electric lamps 11, (neon, fluorescent or filament) energised via carbon brushes 8, conductor bands 9, and wires 10. The illuminated blades may be used for advertising purposes.
Description
1 THE ROTA LIGHT This invention relates to electric ceiling fans.
Ceiling fans are well known ventilation aids which comprise a main stem in which an electric motor rotates a hub with varying numbers of rotor blades attached cooling and aerating the surrounding environment.
Certain ceiling fans are made with electric lights attached to the main body however such fans are relatively bulky and take up more room than necessary.
2336405 According to the present invention there is provided a ceiling fan which comprises a main stem which incorporates an electric motor which drives a hub which has been adapted to provide electricity to illuminate rotor blades giving a more streamlined lighting effect.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which:- Figure 1 shows an end elevation view of a section of the fan with two of the electrically lit rotor blades.
Figure 2 shows a plan view of the fan with hub cover removed revealing electric brushes.
Figure 3 shows a rotor blade attached to a section of hub and means of energising lamp from conductor bands.
Claims (3)
