Abstract
A urinal which has a body 4, is taken and an external collection device such as a leg bag, drainage bag, tubing or by other means may be attached to the end of the urinal 12. The penis is inserted into the opening and is preferably completely covered within the length of the urinal. The angled base of the urinal 14 should be held against the abdominal wall creating a seal between the urinal and body. Once held in position the user can void into the urinal. The flow of urine enters the surge chamber 10 and as the air pressure builds up within the urinal, due to the influx of the urine, the back air pressure within the length prevents a back flow of fluid and the urine takes the easiest path of resistance and exits through 12.
Description
2336315 ( PANEL A) URINAL This invention relates to a urinal.
Hand held urinals are available as bottles, pans and collection trays. The User either holds the vessel or sits on top of it and passes urine into the collection chamber.
These urine collection devices can be difficult to manaqe as the fluid remains within the chamber. This can often lead to spillaqe as the user trier> to remove thehgelve from the pan or a back flow occurs from the bottle.
According to the present invention this hand held Urinal allows the user to pass urine through the urinal into a connecting external chamber and at the same time preventing back flow occuring due to the urine surge chamber incorporated within it.
The urinal is shaped in such a way that it allows for positioning without the need for lifting the user on to it.The base of the urinal In angled sufficiently to form a seal when in use, which prevents leakage.A void of urine is directed into the surge chamber and out into the external collection device.
Sealing the urinal against the abdominal wall prevents a back flow,as air pressure within the urinal builds up thus forcing the urine towards the least likely path of resistance, towards the external collection chamber.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which:- Figure 1. Shows in perspective the urinal.
Figure 2. Illustrates the side view of the urinal.
Figure 3. Shows the plan view of the urinal.
Figure 4. Illustrates the end view of the back of the urinal.
( PANEL B) Referring to the drewincl, the urinal comr)rises of a body 4, which is taken and posiiioned in such a way that it will allow urine to pass through it.
In order to locate the urinal properly, the urinal has an opening larne enough 6,to be effective in transferring urine from the user to the external collection device such as a leg bag or drainage bag or other means. In the case of a male user the shaft of the penis should be positioned within the urinal along the wider diameter lenghth B.The base of the urinal is angled sufficiently 14 to create a seal against the abdominal wall.
A lenghth of the urinal 10,is long enough and wide enough which is capable of allowing a volume of fluid to pass through. This area is to be called the surge chamber.
The urinal tapers down to a smaller diameter 12,which will allow for an external collecting device, such as a leg bag, drainage bag or other means to be connected to the urinal.
( PANEL C)
Claims (6)
- CLAIMS.A urinal capable of allowing a full void of urine to pass through and out into an external collection chamber, and at the same time prevent back flow occuring due to the internal air pressure acting as a force, directing the urine towards the outlet, which is the least path of resistance.
- 2. A urinal as claimed in claim 1,wherein the base is angled sufficiently to form a seal between the body and the urinal which allows the internal air pressure to work as a force in conjunction with the fluid output.
- 3. A urinal as claimed in claim 1 or claim 2,which has a urine surge chamber, this being a compartment for urine to fill as the internal pressures increase and at the same time preventing the urine to back flow on the user.
- 4. A urinal as claimed in claim 1,claim 2 or claim 3,being wide enough and long enough to insert the full lenghth of penis and allowing the base of the urinal to be held against the abdominal wall above the penis and the scrotal sack on on the underside of the penis.
- 5. A urinal as claimed in any preceeding claims wherein the narrowest point can connect to an external collection device such as a leg bag, drainage beg or other by other means.
- 6. A urinal as described herein, with reference to figures 1-4 of the accompanying drawing.
