Abstract

Braces for wear by a pregnant woman to relieve back-ache comprise two lengths of wide strong elastic joined by a cross piece and having fastening clips at their ends. The shoulders may be padded.

Description

2336290 Maternity Braces This invention relates to Trouser-Braces.
Trouser-Braces are made of thin elastic and small clips. This invention uses wider and stronger elastic with stronger clips. The object of this invention is to give full support to the back and stomach by lifting the weight of the baby. This will move the weight onto the shoulders making it easy to walk and more comfortable to move.
The object of the maternity braces is to reduce the strain on the back and abdominal muscles. Backache is usually caused by tearing or overstretching of the muscles of the back or the ligaments and intervertebral discs of the spine. The greater the body weight the greater the strain on the back.
The essential feautres are the support and padding, giving the wearer comfort and less weight on the muscles.
The invention has either metal or plastic clips for people that may get an allergic reaction from metal. The braces can also vary in colour for extra fun.
The accompanying drawings show how the main four features work.
1 Referring to Drawings Front View: This shows how the braces are worn in front.
Back View: This shows how the braces are worn at the back.
1: This indicates the padding for the shoulders.
2: This indicates the strong and wide elastic.
3: This indicates the metal or plastic clips.
4: This indicates the fully adjustable backstrap.

Claims (3)

  1. Maternity braces are made of two equal length of bands plus one shorter, removable band.
    Maternity braces as in claim 1 are made from elasticated material.
    Maternity braces as in claim
  2. 2 are padded in the middle of the two long elasticated bands.
    Maternity braces as in claim 1 and 2 have one clip on each end of the elasticated material, the clips can be used to alter the length of the braces and also to hold the garment up.
    Maternity braces as claimed in any proceeding claim are made from white. coloured or printed elasticated material.
    Maternity braces substantually as herein described and illustrated in accompanying drawing.
