Abstract

Interchangeable spurs are fitted into one of two holes A or B on spur carrier 5. The shank 2 of the spur is releasably held in either hole by a spring urged ball 1. The holes may be multifaced and a sliding cover 6 may close the hole which is not in use.

This invention relates to a pair of horse riding spurs which have a interchangeable socket head with different attachments.
Spurs are used by experienced horse riders to reinforce the leg aid. When required the spurs should be used without force by a rider turning their heels slightly inwards, so the inside of shank or head of spur touches the horses sides.
Most riders have a collection of different spurs. These differ by being different in shape size and angle, This is because different spurs, make different contact feel to the horse.
The spur body has two holes A & B (see figure one). The holes are multi faced ( square, hexagonal and octagonal) into these holes fit spur bits (2). To retain these bits in position., ball (1) applies a force via compression spring (4), retaining screw (3) can be a adjusted to give a greater clamping force to the spur bit (.2). The ball (1) is held in position by compression spring (4) and hole pips (7) (see figure two). When the spur bit (2) is removed from the spur body (5) the spur bit (2) can be located in a hole "A" or "B", moving sliding cover (6) exposes the hole required. If a greater retaining force is required to the spur bit (2) a dimple can be provided on the clamping face into which the ball (1) will sit thus applying a positive location.

    Claim 1. with two positions for head (bits) attachments.
    3. A spur set with interchangeable head (bits) attachments as claimed in Claim 1 and Claim 1_. with a adjustable tension for the (bits) attachments.
    4. A spur set with interchangeable head (bits) attachments as claimed in Claim 1, Claim 2 and Claim L_ 3 Ath a slide to cover the attachment point when not in use.
