Abstract

A reflective strip 11 is releasably attached by means of a hook and loop attachment to a material band 10. The strip contains a battery-powered light source, controlled by on/off switch 13. The ends of the band are attached by buckle 14 and a further hook and loop attachment. The device may be attached to a person ortheir clothing to provide safety illumination.

Description

2336096 LIGHTED REFLECTIVE BAND This invention relates to a lighted
reflective band Reflective bands are well known safety accessories which use light to reflect them. They comprise of reflective material wNch forms a bracelet to circumference part of the body. The reflective band is secured around part of the body via hook and loop fastening.
However the effectiveness of the reflective band is limited when there is insufficient lighting or no lighting to reflect it.
According to the present invention there is provided a lighted reflective band comprising a material strip with hook and loop fastening to form band and belt loop for adjustment. Secured to the band face by means of hook and loop fastening is a reflective strip, encased in the strip is a battery powered light source which can be switched on or off as required. The refiedive strip including contained light source being adapted to be detached from band.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which:- Figure 1 shows the lighted reflective band in bracelet form; Figure 2 shows the unbelted, unfastened lighted reflective band; Figure 3 shows the band separated from the lighted reflective strip. Figure 4 shows the lighted reflective strip.
Referring to the drawing in Figl the band 10 comprises a reflective strip 11, encased and concealed battery powered light source 12 and adjoining power switch 13 with belt loopl 4 opposite end to switch.
In order to activate light source 12 power switch 13 is pressed on. To discontinue light source, power switch 13 is pressed again.
In Fig 2 the band 10 is unbelted 14 and forms a flat strap.
Fig 4 shows the lighted reflective strip 11, 12, 13 detached from the band. Fig 3. At back of lighted reflective strip remains secured hook and loop strip. Light source 12 is only made visible through reflective strip when power switch13 is pressed on.
To remount the lighted reflective strip on it's band the steps described above are carried out in the reverse sequence.

The reflective strip including contained light source being adapted to be detached from band.
2 A lighted reflective band as claimed in Claim 1 wherein the complete light source is encased and sealed in the reflective strip and secured by adhesive strip to separate hook and loop fastening and in turn secured to hook and loop material strip.
3 A lighted reflective band as claimed in Claim 1 wherein the switch can be activated to provide light which is made visible through reflective strip.
4 A lighted reflective band as claimed in Claim 3 wherein the light source is only visible when activated.
A lighted reflective band as claimed in Claim 1 or Claim 4 wherein the light source is battery powered.
6 A lighted reflective band as claimed as claimed in Claim 1 wherein the material strip can be detached from lighted reflective strip and placed elsewhere.
