Abstract

A tool for handling submarine conduits for coupling of such a sub-marine conduit to a sea bottom based installation, of the kind wherein the tool includes a downwardly open gripper or yoke for holding the conduit in connection with the coupling, and winch equipment for hauling the submarine conduits. The yoke (26) is designed with opposed, parallel side wall sections (28, 28), the spacing between which is conformed to the diameter or transverse dimension of the submarine conduit, and in that the yoke is forcibly displaceable between a rearward pull-in position and a forward coupling position in a supporting frame (14), and in that the winch equipment (16) including a pulling cable (24) is mounted directly on the displaceable yoke (26) or optionally on the supporting frame (14) above the yoke.
