Abstract

A golf club grip carries a finger and thumb map that indicates the finger and thumb positions of a correctly formed specific golf gripping technique for the fingers and thumb of the right hand A,and the three largest fingers and thumb of the left hand B.The individual finger and thumb positions are numerically ordered to demonstrate the correct sequence of application upon the grip.Body to ball alignment arrows at D,indicate the correct angle of the clubshaft in a player's stance.

Description

EASYGRIP.

This invention relates to an EASYGRIP golf club grip design.

Golf club grips are in common usage and are defined in the Rules of Golf,as set out by The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St.Andrews,as t'.. that part of the shaft designed to be held by the player and any material added to it for the purpose of obtaining a firm hold.The grip shall be straight and plain in form, (and) shall extend to the end of the shaft...".The Rules also specify that the grip should not be moulded for any part of the hands.A pattern is occasionally marked onto the face of the grip to indicate approximate suggested thumb positions and/or vertical alignment.

However,existing golf club grips do not incorporate a design feature that would enable the player to assume a specific gripping position/technique.

According to the present invention,a map indicating finger/thumb positions that correspond to a specific golf grip technique, is marked out on the surface of the golf club grip.The individual finger/thumb positions are numbered to specify the correct sequence of application.

Two alignment arrows are incorporated in the design.

A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: Figure 1 depicts the front elevation of the Easygrip.

Figure 2 depicts the side profile of the Easygrip when rotated through 90" to the left,or anti-clockwise from the point of view of the player.

Figure 3 depicts the side profile of the Easygrip when rotated through 90" to the right,or clockwise from the point of view of the player.

Referring to the drawing,the Easygrip golf club grip comprises a golf shaft sleeve C,with a contiuous line marked on the surface at A,to indicate the positions for the correct application of the four fingers and thumb of the right hand.A broken line on the surface at B, indicates the positions for the application of the three largest fingers and the thumb of the left hand.The individual finger and thumb positions are numbered from 1 to 9,to indicate the correct sequence of application.Once the player's fingers have been correctly applied to the corresponding finger/thumb maps,the hands will be joined to form a specific gripping technique.

Body to ball alignment arrows at D,indicate to the player an alignment axis from the ball to the player's left shoulder that will ensure the correct clubshaft angle in the player's stance when addressing the ball.

The above description is relevant only to a righthanded player.In the case of a left-handed player the symmetrical mirror image of the drawing would apply, and the words left and right substituted for one another.

Claims (4)

CLAIMS.

1) A golf club grip with a finger and thumb pattern marked on the surface of the grip to indicate the finger and thumb positions of a correctly formed specific golf gripping technique.

2) A golf club grip as claimed in claim l),whereupon the individual finger positions are numerically ordered to specify the correct sequence of finger and thumb application in order to form a specific golf gripping technique.

3) A golf club grip as claimed in claim 2),with body to ball alignment arrows to indicate the correct clubshaft angle in the player's stance.

4) A golf club grip substantially as described herein with reference to figures 1 to 3 of the accompanying drawing.
