Abstract

A ladder strut includes a main support frame (Fig 1) adapted at one end to engage a selected rung of a ladder and at the other end to engage the ground, and a claw (Fig 2) which is fixed to the bottom rung of the ladder and is attached to a chain which passes through the main support frame and locks into a locking plate (Fig 3). A spiked foot plate (Fig 4) slides on to the foot of the support for use only on soft ground.

Claims (3)

  1. CLAIMS LA A LADDER MATE INCLUDES A MAIN SUPPORT FRAME WHICH THE CHAIN AND CLAW, SPIKED FOOT PLATE ARE AFFIXED TO THE LADDER MATE 2. THE SPIKED FOOT PLATE AS CLAIMED IN CLAIM 1 IS FOR USE ONLY ON SOFT GROUND 3. THE LADDER SUPPORT FRAME AS IN CLAIM 1 CAN BE MANUFACTURED USING STEEL OR ALUMINIUM Amendments to the claims have been filed as follows CLAIMS 1) A safety attachment for a ladder comprising of :- a) Firstly, shown on figure 1, an elongate main support frame to receive and engage a rung of the ladder. b) Secondly, shown on figure 2, a claw and attached chain.
    The claw being adapted to hook over a lower rung of the ladder and the links of the chain being selectively receivable in a notch of the support frame so as to adjust the length of the chain and then pull it taut.
    c) Thirdly, shown on figure 4, a spiked foot plate adapted to slide on to the main frame and conceal the grounds engaging means.
  2. 2) As in claim 1 there is a safety attachment meaning the spiked foot plate can only be used on soft ground.
  3. 3) As in claim 1 there is a safety attachment using manufactured steel or aluminium.
