Abstract

A bullet/shell is located at the front end of a casing which contains compressed gas such that when the casing is compressed by an outside force such as the hammer of a gun the diminished internal volume causes the compressed gas within to propel the shell or bullet. The casing is designed to compress permanently when struck at a specific point with a predetermined amount of external pressure. No explosive material is contained in the casing.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
This invention relates to a bullet/shell which relies upon propulsion of shot, (lead or otherwise), by compressed gas. The bullet/shell is of a conventional cylindrical shape, made of metal or plastic or other similar rigid material, but does not contain a detonator or any explosive material, the bullet comprises the shot that is required to be propelled and compressed gas to a critical pressure and, the casing of the bullet is designed to compress permanently when struck at a specific point with a pre-determined amount of pressure.
MORE PARTICULARLY The compressed gas bullet/shell rises a cylindrical designed case in the conventional sense, and at the front end of the cylinder is the shot that is required to be propelled, otherwise the cylindrical casing is devoid of other material such as detonator or explosive. The cylinder is simply pressurised with compressed-gas to a high pressure, which pressure is capable when increased to explode the cylinder at the front end through the shot in the cylinder, and thus propel the shot forward along the barrel of a gun, be it hand gun, machine gun, rifle, cannon or as the case may be.
The bullet/shell is designed and manufactured such that the ability to withstand any increase in pressure is weakest at the front end, and thus any significant and sufficient increase in pressure will explode the casing only at that point.
1 1 The pressure within the bullet/shell is increased by compressing the casing or part of it, and thus decreasing the internal volume of the shell, bullet or cylinder to such a point that the casing explodes at the pre-determined weakest point.
The compression is effected by means of a hanner or bolt or other means within the gun, rifle, cannon or other armament which strikes the outer casing of the shell/cylinder at a pre-determined point with a minimum predetermined force and the casing of the shell is designed to collapsed and compress but is deformable only in one direction and cannot reverse once driven forward/in by the bolt or hammer in the firing device, this deformation of the cylinder/shell/bullet in one direction only is effected, eg. by means of a tongue and groove design between the outer and inner casing of the shell.

Claims (2)

1. A bullet or shell for use in a hand gun, rifle, machine gun, cannon, airgun or other armament which comprises shot and compressed gas contained in a deformable cylindrical container which will deform to a pre-determined extent in one direction only when compressed, and which compression is unable to reverse direction by reason of, eg. a tongue and groove design within the shell, which compression is effected by means of a hairwier, bolt, trigger or other force used within the armament capable of firing ammunition, shells or bullets as the case may be, and thus the shot within the bullet/shell is propelled forward without the need for any detonator, detonation or explosive within the shell/bullet.
2. A bullet or shell in claim 1. which deforms when struck by hammer, bolt or other mechanism in a form of armament, gun, rifle, cannon and will remain deformed by reason of a tongue and groove arrangement as between an inner casing of the shell and the outer casing.
2 A bullet or shell in claim 1. which will deform permanently in one direction only when struck at a pre-determined point with a predetermined minimum force.
