Abstract

A stomach warning posture device that is similar in appearance to a telephone pager. The device would be attached to a person's waistband or trouser belt by means of a clip (2). Attached to the belt clip 2 there is a button (3) which rests against the person's distended stomach, which in turn presses micro switch 7 button (6) which allows current to flow to motor 11 with unbalanced load (12). This energised state creates a vibration that the wearer can feel and reminds them to pull in their stomach, and by doing so releases pressure on button 3 allowing micro switch 7 to return to it's normally open position thereby isolating motor (11). Continual holding in of one's stomach is a form of isometric exercise.

Description

STOMACH POSTURE WARNING DEVICE.
TITLE OF THE INVENTION (WAIST WATCHER) THIS INVENTION CONCERNS BODY FUNCTION DETECTION AND WAS CONCEIVED INITIALLY FOR THE DETECTION OF A DISTENDED STOMACH.
THE CONCEPT OF THE WAIST WATCHER IS A DEVICE THAT CAN BE USED BY AN INDIVIDUAL TO INDICATE WHEN HIS/HER STOMACH POSTURE WAS DISTENDED. IT WOULD BE MADE OF PLASTIC AND LOOK SIMILAR TO A TELEPHONE PAGER AND WOULD BE CLIPPED TO A USER'S WAISTBAND OR TOUSER BELT, AND IF THE STOMACH WAS DISTENDED A MICRO SWITCH WOULD BE PRESSED, IN TURN THIS WOULD ACTIVATE A VIBRATING ELECTRIC MOTOR. WHEN THE VIBRATION WAS FELT BY THE WEARER IT WOULD REMIND HIM/HER TO HOLD IN HIS/HER STOMACH MUSCLES.THE CONSTANT PULLING IN OF HIS/HER STOMACH MUSCLES AND HOLDING THEM TIGHT WOULD BE A FORM OF ISOMETRIC EXERCISE AND THE VIBRATION WOULD HELP TONE THE AFORE MENTIONED MUSCLES.
THE WAIST WATCHER COMPRISES OF TWO PLASTIC HALVES FIG.1 & FIG.3 SCREWED TOGETHER.CONTAINED IN THE INSIDE OF THE FRONT HALF OF THE FIG.1 ARE THE FOLLOWING COMPONENTS:SLIDE ISOLATING ON/OFF SINGLE POLE SWITCH 13 :THREE VOLT ELECTRIC MOTOR 11 with UNBALANCED LOAD 12 ATTACHED TO END OF SHAFT 14 :TWO AA SIZE 1 5 VOLT BATTERIRS 9 & 10. CONTAINED IN THE INSIDE OF THE BACE HALF OF THE DEVICE FIG 4 ARE THE FOLLOWING COMPONENTS : SINGLE POLE ON/OFF MICRO SWITCH 7 & ACTIVATING BUTTON 6. ON THE REVERSE SIDE OF THE BACK HALF OF THE DEVICE FIG.4 ARE THE FOLLOWING COMPONENTS : BELT/WAISTBAND CLIP 2 AND DOME SHAPED PLASTIC BUTTON 3 WITH STOCK 4 . THE FOUR MILLIMETRE DIAMETER STOCK 4 WOULD PASS THROUGH THE HOLLOW COMPARTMENT 15 OF THE BELT CLIP AND BE RETAINED THERE-IN BY MEANS OF A SPRING PIN 5 THROUGH THE STOCK 4 , THE STOCK 4 CONTINUES THROUGH THE SHELL 1 OF THE BACK HALF OF THE DEVICE AND REST AGAINST THE BUTTON 6 ON THE MICRO SWITCH 7.
FIG.1. SHOWS THE INTERIOR OF THE FRONT HALF OF THE INVENTION, THE TWO ONE POINT FIVE VOLT AA SIZE BATTERIES 9 & 10 ARE CONNECTED IN SERIES THERE-BY CREATING A THREE VOLT SUPPLY,THE NEGATIVE WIRE FROM THE NEGATIVE POLE 9 OF THE SUPPLY IS SOLDERED TO ONE OF TWO TERMINALS ON THE ELECTRIC MOTOR 11.
THE POSITIVE WIRE FROM THE THREE VOLT SUPPLY 10 IS SOLDERED TO ONE OF TWO TERMINALS ON THE SLIDE ON/OFF ISOLATING SWITCH 13. A WIRE IS SOLDERED TO THE REMAINING TERMINAL ON ISOLATING SWITCH 13 THEN LINKED AND SOLDERED TO ONE OF TWO TERMINALS ON THE ON/OFF ACTUATING MICRO SWITCH 7 AND LINKED AND SOLDERED TO THE REMAINING TERMINAL OF THE ELECTRIC MOTOR 11.
IN ORDER FOR THE CIRCUIT TO BE COMPLETE AND ALLOW CURRENT TO FLOW TO THE ELECTRIC MOTOR 11,ISOLATING SWITCH 13'AND' ACTIVATING MICRO SWITCH 7 WOULD HAVE TO BE IN THE ON POSITION THIS WOULD BE ACHIEVED WHEN THE WEARER OF THE DEVICE CLIPPED IT TO HIS/HER WAISTBAND AND SWITCHED ON THE ISOLATING SWITCH 13 AND ALLOWED HIS/HER STOMACH TO DISTEND AND PRESS AGAINST BUTTON 3 THIS IN TURN PRESSING AGAINST BUTTON 6.
STOMACH POSTURE WARNING DEVICE.
TITLE OF THE INVENTION (WAIST WATCHER) THE WAIST WATCHER CAN ALSO BE USED AS AN AID IN TRAINING AN INDIVIDUAL IN HOW TO USE THE ABDOMINAL DIAPHRAGMATIC BREATHING TECHNIQUE.DIAPHRAGMATIC BREATHING IS VERY IMPORTANT TO AN INDIVIDUAL WHO IS EXPERIENCING AN ASTHMATIC ATTACK.
THE WAIST WATCHER WOULD BE ACTIVATED WHEN THE WEARER BREATHS IN,THERE-BY ALLOWING THE DIAPHRAGM TO RELAX AND THE STOMACH MUSCLES TO DISTEND WHICH IN TURN ALLOWS THE LUNG CAPACITY TO INCREASE THERE-BY ALLOWING THE INDIVIDUAL TO INHALE A GREATER AMOUNT OF AIR.
WHEN THE WEARER EXHALES THE WAIST WATCHER WOULD BE DE-ACTIVATED THERE-BY CONTRACTING THE STOMACH MUSCLES, CAUSING THE DIAPHRAGM TO MOVE UPWARDS TOWARDS THE CHEST CAVITY,ASSISTING TO EXPEL THE AIR OUT FROM INSIDE THE LUNGS.
