Abstract

A sunshade for a pushchair comprises a three sided, foldable frame detachably secured to a pushchair frame by adjustable clamps, a plurality of independently retractable sunshade members (4, 5 figure 4) being attached to the sides (1 figure 4) of the frame. The shade members may be extended individually or in combination (figures 2 and 3) to give protection to the occupant of the pushchair. The shade members may be rolled up in the retracted position and may be attached to the pushchair frame by elasticated retaining clips (6 figure 4) in the extended position. The frame may fold against the pushchair frame (figure 1). The frame may include flexible joints (2 figure 4) to allow variations in width between different pushchairs.

Description

ADJUSTABLE/DETACHABLE SUNSHADE for BABY CARRIAGES.
Anolication This invention of an Adjustable Sunshade, can be applied to all forms of Baby Carriages, including, Strollers, Buggies, Twin Buggies, Travellers, Perambulators, Push Chairs and Carry/car Seats.
Existing Problem This invention resolves the current problem that is inherent in all existina Baby Carriage Sunshades, in that they are mounted on the pushing handle of the baby carriage, above and behind the baby and unsatisfactorily attempt to shade the baby from the harmful UV light of the sun.
PurPose of the Invention In this invention, the detachable sunshade is mounted in front of the baby at the lower handle/seat area and it provides three adjustable sun shades, each of which independently provides full protection from the harmful UV light effects of the sun, from the front, top and both sides, relative to the baby.
DescriPtion of the Invention - Refer to Drawings attached.
Fig 1 - shows in perspective, the Sunshade attached to a pushchair, for example, a) in the operating position (with the shades closed) and, b) the Sunshade in the collapsed position (when not in use).
The Sunshade is attached to the pushchair by two adjustable screw clamps, which will accommodate any baby carriage.
Figure 2 - illustrates the Sunshade with the shades open on the top and right hand side of the baby appropriate to the position of the sun. Hence protection is provided from 'high' UV light from the baby's right side.
Figure 3 - illustrates the Sunshade with the shades open at the front and left hand side of the baby appropriate to the position of the sun. Hence protection is provided from 'low' UV light sun from the baby's left side.
Figure 4 - shows the assembly details of the Sunshade.
Referring to the drawings, the Adjustable/Detachable Sunshade for Baby Carriages comprises of a light weight frame made from 1), three tubes with 2) two flexijoints, to allow for the variance in width of Baby Carriages. Attached to the end of the tubes are 3), two multi-variable clamps that provide a) anchorage to the Baby Carriage and b) adjustment to allow the Sunshade to adopt the collapsed position when the Sunshade is not in use. Attached to the three tubes are 4) & 5), three UV protective pieces of material that are rolled around the tubes but free to unroll and adopt the sun protective position when attached by 6), retaining clips, to the frame of the Baby Carriage.
