Description

DESCRIPTION THIS INVENTION (FIG 1) NAMED AS: GT BAR.
RELATES TO A PATIO DOOR SECURITY LOCKING DEVICE LOCKING BOLTS FOR PATIO DOORS ARE GENERALLY MULTI PURPOSE AND WHILST USEFUL ARE NOT SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED FOR THE PURPOSE ABOVE AND DO NOT PROVIDE MAXIMUM SECURITY AVAILABLE OR DESIRED.
ACCORDING TO CURRENT INVENTION THERE IS A BOLT, WHICH WHEN FITTED DOES NOT ALLOW CLEARANCE FOR THE WHEELS OF THE DOOR TO FUNCTION ON IT'S ROLLERS TO OPEN OR TO ALLOW THIS THE BOLT PROTRUDING FROM THE BAR INTO THE DOOR IS OFTEN CUT SHORT TO AVOID INTERFERENCE TO THE WHEELS, THEREBY REDUCING IT'S EFFECT TO NEGLIGIBLE.
SPECIFIC EMBODIMENTS or THE INVENTION WILL NOW BE DESCRIBED BY WAY OF EXAMPLE WITH REFERENCE TO THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS.
FIGURE 1 SHOWS THE BOLT IN DETAIL FIGURE 3 IS PHOTOGRAPH OF BAR IN PROTOTYPE IN THE IN TEMPORARY SITU FIGURE 2 SHOWS CURRENT MARKET OPTION'S AVAILABLE REFERRING TO THE DRAWING (FIG 1) THERE IS CLEARANCE GIVEN TO AVOID INTERFERENCE WITH DOOR ROLLING GEAR WHICH IN OTHER OPTIONS (FIG 2) IS NOT ALLOWED.
IT IS USUAL WITH OPTIONS (FIG 2) TO EITHER CUT BOLT DOWN TO AVOID INTERFERENCE, THIS THEN NEGATE EFFECTIVENESS, OR FIT IN OTHER POSITION WHICH IS INFERIOR IN TERMS OF STRENGTH FOR PURPOSE.
THE BAR (FIG 1) IS DESIGNED TO ALLOW THIS TO BE FITTED IN THE OPTIMUM POSITION.
IN ADDITION THERE IS A STEEL PIN WHICH LOCATES IN THE BACK EDGE OF SECOND DOOR TO SECURE BOTH BAR AND DOOR THEREFORE STOPPING THE DOOR BEING LIFTED OUT OR FORCED BACK BY CROWBAR WHICH IS THE USUAL METHOD OF ATTEMPTED ENTRY.
THE LOCKING STUD SCREWS ON FACE OF BAR (FIG 1) ARE THREADED INTO A LOCKING PLATE WHICH IS ATTACHED TO DOOR, THIS GIVES ADDED SECURITY INSOFAR AS THE STUDS (FIG 1) ARE THEN AN INTEGRAL PART AS OPPOSED TO LOCATED PIN FIG 2 WHICH COULD BE DRAWN OUT WITHOUT RESISTANCE.
THE LOCKING STUDS ARE OPERATED BY A SLOTTED KEY WHICH COULD NOT BE OVERIDDEN BY SCREWDRIVER ETC.

Claims (7)

1. A PATIO DOOR SECURITY BAR COMPRISING 1 BAR WITH CAPTURED LOCKING STUDS AND ANTI LIFT PIN AND SLOTTED KEY.
2. A PATIO DOOR SECURITY BAR. AS IN CLAIM 1 WHEREBY CAPTURED STUDS ARE LOCKED BY MEANS OF A SLOTTED KEY.
3. A PATIO DOOR SECURITY BAR. AS IN CLAIM 1 AND CLAIM 2 WHERE CLEARANCE FOR SLIDING DOOR ROLLING GEAR IS ALLOWED.
4. A PATIO DOOR SECURITY BAR. AS IN CLAIM 1 WHERE AN ANTI LIFT PIN IS LOCATED TO FIT BACK EDGE OF SECOND DOOR.
5. A PATIO DOOR SECURITY BAR. AS IN CLAIM 1 AND 2 WHEREBY CAPTURED STUDS ARE THREADED AS A FURTHER MEANS OF SECURING BOTH BAR TO DOOR AND DOOR TO BAR.
6. A PATIO DOOR SECURITY BAR. AS IN CLAIM 1.
WHICH CAN BE LOCKED WITH 1 STUD. AS IN CLAIM 2 AND 5 TO ALLOW PARTIAL OPENING FOR VENTILATION PURPOSES WHILST LOCKED AGAINST ENTRY.
7. A PATIO DOOR SECURITY BAR.
SPECIFICALLY AS DESCRIBED HERE WITH REFERENCE TO FIG 1 DETAILED DRAWING AND FIG 3 PHOTOGRAPH OF BAR IN PROTOTYPE FORM.
