Description
2326651 1 Flameproof Jacquard textile screening material
This invention concerns the field of Jacquard type fireproof textiles, particularly suited for making curtains.
As is known, textiles used for making curtains and curtaining of any type for use in hotels and enclosed meeting areas must be made of fireproof materials, as provided for in legislation in force in virtually all States.
At the same time, as the current trends in the buildi-nor sector and in the hotel architecture field have dispensed with components that fulfil a screening purpose, such as rolling shutters, Venetian blinds and suchlike, the need has arisen to use screening curtains for external bays such as Windows and French windows.
According to the present state of technology, the main stated requirements are met by the use of two separate superimposed curtains of which that facing the inside of the room is intended for decorative purposes in relation to the furniture provided and that nearest the outside is designed to provide screening. The two aforesaid curtains may be of the same or different textiles, but with flameproof characteristics.
The inventor of this invention has made use of the constructional characterisics of Jacquard type textiles to provide a solution to the abovementioned problems with jusi one flameproof curtain offering the required aesthetic characteristics on the visible side facing the room where it is hung, and screening characteristics on the side not in view.
More particularly, the subject of the invention consists of a fireproof Jacquard textile as described in the preamble to the attached claim 1, characterised by the characterizing part of this same clqun.
1) As is known by technicians in the sector, a Jacquard textile is obtained by weaving several wefts onto a warp, including different colours, superimposed and combined such that they intersect, forming the required decorative pattern on one side of the textile.
1 The inventor of this invention has created a Jacquard textile in which a certain percentage (about 50%) of the wefts" are designed to create the decorative pattern on the visible side, an the remaining wefts (i.e. the remaining 50% approx.) are made with a fibre with screening properties, i. e. a dark colour, forTning a uniform screerung layer applied to the side of the textile not in view.
To achieve the desired screening effect, the wefts designed for this purpose should be sufficiently close-woven. To this effect the inventor suggests using a fireproof fibre for at 0 - least 70 wefts per linear centimetre, in two directions at right angles of which at least 35 consist of fibres with screening properties.
The type of fibre used may be selected from those known by experts in the sector for their flameproof characteristics: the inventor suszCrests using fireproof polyester fibre.
Using the textile as per the invention, all the desired effects are achieved (aesthetic, fire- resistance and screening g) with one curtain only, with the obvious advantages in terms of cost and reduced maintenance.
Constructions other than those described as an example can be obtained by technicians in t the sector, modifying, for example, the number of wefts and the type of fibre used. These constructions are, however, likewise covered by the protection granted by this application for patent if their design derives from the concepts expressed in the attached claims.
The inventor suggests subjecting the screening layer of fabric to a finishing cycle of known type in which it is subjected to washing in perchlorine with thermal fixing at 180 T.

Claims (5)
1 Fireproof Jacquard textile made by interweaving several superimposed wefts of fibres of flameproof material combined together to form the desired decorative pattern on the outer visible side of the said fabric, characterised by the fact that a predeterrruned percentage of these wefts is made of fibres with a screening capability, and is combined with the remaining wefts such that their fibres form a uniform screening layer of predetermined denseness on the internal side of the textile not in view without being visible on the said outer side.
2.
Fireproof Jacquard textile as per claim I in which about 50% of the wefts are interwoven to form the said uniform screening layer, and about 50% of the wefts form the decorative pattern.
-
3.
Jacquard textile as per one of the above claims in which there are seventy wefts per linear centimetre overall in two directions at right ang gles.
4. Jacquard textile as per one of the above claims in which the fibres forming the said wefts are made of flameproof polyester.
5.
Jacquard textfle as per claim 4 in which the screening layer is treated with a finishing cycle comprising washing with perchlorine and thermal fixing at 1 0 T.
