Abstract
A lightweight support brassiere for large breasted women comprises wide stretchable shoulder straps which are integral with either the whole breast cup, or with just upper cup parts which are then joined to separate lower cup parts. Each cup has three support strips as shown in fig. 7. A wide band of stretch fabric extends laterally under the cups and around the rear of the body.
Description
A lightweight structured support for larger breasts
This invention relates to a lightweight structured support for larger breasts.
Common bras consist of two breast cups with narrow straps going over the shoulders attaching to a band going around the back. This creates a number of problems especially for larger breasted women.
The narrow straps going over the shoulder give insufficient support and lift while at the same time cutting into the flesh. Both painflil and unsightly.
Tightening the shoulder straps to obtain lift only results in cutting deeper into the flesh and pulls the back band into a arch curving upwards towards the shoulders.
Tightening the band across the back is an attempt to stop it curving upwards fails to achieve this and cuts into the flesh. This causes the flesh to roll over the top of the band and push out of the bottom of the band. This looks unslightly and shows through many garments worn over top.
Constant tightening cuts into the flesh, can cause back ache, rubbing and soreness.
The lightweight structured support for larger breasts, consisting of a constructed front described in figures 1-7 and 9 joined to a back of stretch fabric described in figure 8 and 10 gives lift, support and control to fuller figures.
A Lightweight structured support for larger breasts made wholly or in part of stretch fabrics. The
breast cup to support the breast is made of two parts as shown in figures 1 and 3. Or one part as
shown in figure 2. The strap and design of the neckline are integral with the top half of the breast
cup in figure 1. Or the whole piece in figure 2. This is made of stretch fabric. Figure 1. Top
half of breast cup. Figure 2. Breast cup in one piece. The lower half of the breast cup is made
of non-stretch fabric, stretch fabric or stretch fabric stitched, interfaced, interlined or re-inforced
with light weight fabric to restrict stretch of fabric as shown in figure 3. Figure 3. Lower half
of breast cup. Centre front is a triangle part joining the two cups together. This is made of
stretch fabric stitched/interfaced/interlined/re-inforced to restrict stretch of fabric or non stretch
fabric as shown in figure 4. Figure 4. Triangle part joining breast cups. The side part joins the
breast cup and the back. The edge that joins the breast cup is curved to fit. The edge that joins
the back is straight as shown in figure 5. It is made of stretch fabric stitchedlinterfaced/interlined/re-inforced to restrict stretch of fabric or non stretch fabric. Figure
5. Showing side part. A band of stretch fabric is attached underneath the breast cups extending
from one side ofthe body to the other. This band is shaped to fit the lower edge ofthe breast cup Its depth from 4" to waist or hip level. As shown in Figure 6. Figure 6 shaped band of stretch fabric
under breast cup. To support the breasts narrow strips of a rigid or flexible but strong material
are inserted into the lower half of the breast cup. One flexible support is place in the curved
seam of the lower half of the breast cup from centre front to outside edge. One flexible support
is placed into the horizontal seam joining upper and lower halves of breast cup or a casement is
made in a one piece cup. The support runs halfway along horizontal seam from outside edge to
nipple approx. One flexible support is placed diagonally between the two other supports as
shown in figure 7. Figure 7. Heavy black line represents supports in lower half of breast cup.
The back is made of stretch fabric. The depth is determined by the depth of the shaped band in
the front attached to the breast cups, as shown in figure 8. Figure 8 showing back part. Figure
