Abstract
Process and device for punching/die-cutting parts which entails one single stroke of press in which, the cutting of the outline and the initial process(es) of shaping the sheet metal and the angled punching of the part 4 and the die-cutting such as additional holes and/or folds is achieved by employing a device installed on the equipment (bolster/die). Applicable in stampware.
Description
"PROCESS AND DEVICE FOR PUNCHING/DIE-CUTTING PARTS"
The present invention entails a process for punching/die-cutting parts and of a device which, on being incorporated into the equipment (bolster/die), affords the possibility of obtaining the same features on said parts, therefore drastically reducing the number of operations necessary for the manufacture thereof.
In industrial processes for manufacturing, for example, brackets, braces, angles or squares out of raw sheet metal, either punching or die-cutting is used.
Conventionally, the following is required for manufacturing these and similar parts:
a) an initial stroke of press to attain the outline and an initial bending into shape which will create the main ribs or ribbing of the preshaped part.
b) a second stroke of press to attain the alternation of angle of the preshaped part.
c) a third stroke of press in which the final shapes- holes, openwork, rosettes, etc. will be made.
The present invention affords the possibility of die-cutting/punching parts of this type whilst reducing the number of strokes of press, which means a thirty-percent (30%) improvement in the efficiency of the production process.
To accomplish this, in addition to the forms necessary for the cutting and the alternation of angle, the equipment (the bolster and die) which performs the aforesaid stroke of press includes an additional device which entails means of mechanical or fluidic shaping, with or without perforation, to perform some subsequent shaping operations immediately upon the single stroke of press taking place; said means being:
a) one or more punches which can be shifted in position axially by fluidic or mechanical means, situated on one or both components of the equipment, (bolster or die)employed.
b) one or more grooves arranged in an interconnected manner to those on the other equipment component (bolster or die) such that they will house the respective punch as it shifts position and/or allow for the shaping of the part in this (these) second shaping operation(s) of the single stroke of press.
To provide for a better understanding of the object of the present invention, a preferred embodiment, which may undergo additional changes which do no detract from the fundamentals thereof, is shown on the drawings.
Fig. 1 provides a diagram, in two consecutive, practically simultaneous stages (a), (b), of one embodiment of the process as per the invention with the device (3) included in the equipment (1), (2) to shape the part (4) on the stroke of press which gives rise to the angled pressing thereof.

1. Die
2. Bolster
3. Added device

A description is provided in following of a non-limiting embodiment of the present invention.
The present invention entails a process and device for punching/die-cutting parts.
In the example of one embodiment provided, the process and device comprising the object of the invention are employed for manufacturing punched/die-cut angled parts such as brackets, braces, angles or squares.
These parts are manufactured basically out of sheet metal which, during the manufacturing process, is folded and, if applicable, is die cut following a preliminary cutting of an out e on a plate or sheet.
In accordance with the invention, the equipment proper (1), (2), includes an added device (3) which is capable of consecutively and almost simultaneously performing the die-cutting of some second forms (41) such as holes and/or additional folds.
The device (3) installed on the equipment proper (1), (2) entails means for performing mechanical or fluidic operations, with or without perforation, for shaping the aforesaid second forms (41) immediately upon the single stroke of press taking place.
For the embodiment shown, such means are:
- one or more punches (31) installed on one of the equipment components - particularly on the die (1) and which can be shifted in position axially by fluidic or mechanical means;
- some grooves (32), in the number of one per each punch (31) installed, located on the other equipment component -particularly on the bolster (2)- arranged in an interconnecting manner with the same (31) such that they will house the respective punch (31) while it is shifting position.
This invention includes the punches (31) on the die (1) and the grooves (32) on the bolster (2) or vice versa and also includes some punches (31) on the die (1) and others on the bolster (2)- and their pertinent grooves arranged in an interconnecting manner (32), some on the die (1) and other on the bolster (2)- depending upon the different forms (41) to be manufactured.
Claims (2)
1. Process and device for punching/die-cutting parts, characterized because the process entails a single stroke of press in which the cutting of the outline and initial process(es) of shaping the sheet and a dual shaping carried out consecutively and almost simultaneously including the angled punching of the part and the die-cutting of second forms such as additional holes and/or folds is carried out employing a device installed on the equipment (bolster or die) proper.
2. Process and device for punching/die-cutting parts as per the preceding claim, characterized because the aforesaid added device which comprises the means of mechanical or fluidic operations for shaping, with or without perforation, the aforesaid second forms immediately upon the single stroke of press taking place, said means being:
a) one or more punches which can be shifted in position axially by fluidic or mechanical means, installed on one or on both components of the equipment (bolster or die);
b) one or more grooves arranged in an interconnected manner with those on the other equipment component (bolster or die) such that they will house the respective punch while it is shifting position and/or allow for the forming of the part in this (these) second shaping process(es) of the single stroke of press.
