Abstract

A dry store for supporting a boat out of water comprises a chassis 1 supported in water by buoyancy tanks 2, a winch 4 for drawing the boat out of the water and over rollers 5 on a catwalk 3, and guide means in the form of upright legs 10 carrying rollers 6. When a boat is winched onto the floating chassis a cover 9 can be attached to the upright legs 10. This will avoid rain water collection. To relaunch the boat the cover 9 is removed and with the help of the rollers 5 and guidance rollers 6 the boat is manually pushed back into the water. Fixing points 7 are provided to attach the dry store to a jetty, with fenders 8 providing a buffer.

Description

DRY STORE FOR A BOAT This invention relates to a dry store for a boat.
It is well known that the hull of a boat moored in water will become fouled by weed and barnacles etc. To prevent fouling, chemicals which may be harmful to the environment are used, another method is to remove the boat from the water a labouriously clean the hull. The hull of the boat has to be clean to maintain the efficiency of the boat through the water. It is well known that boats without a cover will collect water.
According to the present invention, there is provided a dry store for a boat comprising of a chassis supported in water by buoyancy tanks, a means of drawing a boat out of the water by way of a winch and rollers on a floating chassis, there are provided upright legs with rollers to guide the boat into position and also provide a fixing for a cover over the boat.
Figure 1 shows in perspective the floating dry store.
Figure 2 shows in perspective a cover attached to the floating dry store and over a boat.
Referring to the drawings, the dry store comprises of a chassis 1 supported in water by buoyancy tanks 2. On disembarking from a boat the catwalk 3 is used to attach a winch 4 to the boat and with help of rollers 5 the boat is drawn onto the floating chassis, guiding the boat are side rollers 6.
Figure 2 shows the boat on the floating chassis and out of the water, there are fixing points 7 to attach the dry store to a jetty. Fenders 8 are used as a buffer. A cover 9 is fixed from the upright legs 10 and over the boat 11.
To remove the boat the cover is rolled back, the winch unattached and the boat refloated by pushing back into the water.

Claims (6)

1 According to the present invention, there is provided a dry store for a boat comprising of a chassis supported in water by buoyancy tanks, a means of drawing a boat out of the water by way of a winch and rollers on a floating chassis, there are provided upright legs with rollers to guide the boat into position and also provide a fixing for a cover over the boat.
2 A floating chassis as claimed in Claims 1, wherein anchoring points are provided to maintain the floating chassis in position.
3 A floating chassis as claimed in Claims 1 or 2, wherein fenders are fixed is provide a buffer between the chassis and a jetty.
4 A floating chassis as claimed in Claims 1,2 or 3, wherein a catwalk is provided from open end to the winch.
5 A floating chassis as claimed in any preceding claims, wherein the chassis is adjusted to fit different size boats.
6 A floating chassis substantially as described herein with reference to figures 1 and 2 of the accompanying drawings.
