Abstract
A video surveillance system comprises a control unit housing an alarm system, a television camera and recorder and is connectable to the mains via a 3 pin plug whilst also having battery back-up. The system may include up to four cameras with passive infra-red detectors, though the system may also include magnetic door contacts, smoke detectors, programmable auto-diallers, external bell box sounders and security lighting. The recorder may be activated manually or automatically. Recorded images may be automatically date and time stamped. The system may operate in several modes including operation of a buzzer on detection of an intruder so that the operator may select to view or alternatively the system may automatically record any detected events. The system may be armed/disarmed by the push of a button on a key fob or by security coded keys.
Description
ALARM SURVEILLANCE SYSTEM
This invention relates to an alarm surveillance system
Alarms, both hard wired and radio ( wireless ) as well as closed circuit television systems have been on the market for some considerable time.
The present invention combines intruder alarm technology with closed circuit television technology and operates in conjunction with a domestic television, or designated monitor, and a video recorder. The whole system is housed in one unit and is operated by a key fob and/or security coded keys.
EXAMPLE
A person approaching a property secured by the alarm surveillance system will be detected by a passive infra-red(PIR) detector mounted in a closed circuit television camera that also has a built in audio board. The PIR alerts the alarm surveillance unit and a buzzer sounds on the unit telling the owner of the approach. The owner can then elect to select the pre-programmed channel to view and listen to the caller. The owner may also elect to record this event on video. The alarm surveillance unit will date and time the pictures and the recordings for police evidence. If the owner is away then the " away" mode can be selected and such recordings are performed through the alarm surveillance unit automatically. When "away " mode is selected, armed by the key fob, then the alarm system moves in to alert stand by mode. Anyone effecting illegal entry into the property will now activate the passive infrared detectors and the magnetic door contacts setting off the internal alarm sounder in the unit and activating any other of the peripheral equipment such as an external bell box sounder and autodialler. The perpetrator will have alerted the public to his actions which also will have been recorded. The whole unit is disarmed/armed by the push of a button on a key fob or by security coded keys.
Claims (6)
1. An alarm surveillance system comprising of a control console that houses a radio [ wirefree ] or hardwired alarm system and a closed circuit television and video recording control system, together with a television modulator, within the same circuitry and soft ware, and is operated by a three point plug to the mains and has full battery back up.
2. An alarm surveillance system as claimed in Claim 1 wherein the means to switch between up to four cameras is built -in and is triggered by an external passive infrared detectors, positioned in the camera heads, in sequence.
3. An alarm surveillance system as claimed in Claims 1 & 2 that has an alert beeper and built -in video recording controller that alerts and can activate the video recorder both manually and automatically.
4. An alarm surveillance system as claimed in Claims 1, 2, & 3 that can generate time and date on television and video recordings and has the ability to receive and record sound fromthe audio board in the external camera heads.
5. An alarm surveillance system as claimed in Claims 1,2,3, & 4 that can control and operate peripherals such as cameras with audio boards and passive infra red detectors, video recorders and domestic and designated television sets and monitors, passive infrared detectors [ both radio and hardwired ] magnetic door contacts [ both radio and hardwired ] smoke detectors [ both radio and hardwired ] programmable autodiallers, external bell box sounders and security lighting.
