Abstract
232,306. Engl, J., Vogt, H., and Massolle, J. Jan. 9, 1924. Drawings to Speci. fication. Photographic records.-Relates to the production of photographic sound records, particularly when the record is made on a picture film. The negative sound record is underexposed, on account of the speed of the film and the small intensity of the light, but the positive, which must be comparatively transparent, is obtained by a normal printing exposure. According to the invention, in order to obtain, under these conditions, a correct relationship between the recording beam and the reproduced beam, the development of the underexposed negative is abnormally prolonged, so that the positive produced therefrom is similarly underexposed. The developer used for the negative is preferably one which produces great contrasts, and known means for preventing fogging are used. In the positive, the density is such that portions which correspond to the average recording intensity absorb approximately 50 per cent of the light from the source, used in the reproducing apparatus. Explanatory graphs accompany the Specification.
