Abstract

232,269. Houssais, P. I. April 14, 1924, [Convention date]. Printing-surfaces.-A hectographic composition which enables copies of drawings, photographs, &c. to be taken in an ordinary platen or rotary press is formed of a mixture, of pure dry gelatine with oils, or glycerine, bile, milk, eggs, and ochres. These materials are mixed in distilled water to which a small proportion of sulphates is added, and the mixture is rendered antiseptic by the addition of a small proportion of phenol, and citronnella oil is used to deodorize it. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also the method of coating of the composition on a roller, or on a flat support 2 of wood, or metal, formed with gutters 3 to receive excess of composition, and with rounded edges 8 to prevent injury to the composition by the inking-rollers 7. The outer edges 4 of the gutters are below the central part 2 of the support. In applying the composition, the support is inclined and the mixture is poured upon the raised part and made to flow uniformly over the support to form a coating 5, the excess material accumulating in the gutters 3. In a modification, the coating 5 is held in place by ribs 9 secured to a block 2. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
