Abstract

A wet nappy sensor, consisting of two sensing electrodes-2, woven into the fabric of the nappy-1, and connected to an alarm device-3, which is positioned discreetly in the waist-band-4, of the nappy, and comes completley sealed with it's own power source in the form of a button battery-5. The alarm device is an electronic musical circuit -3.

Description

Wet Nappy Sensor.
This invention relates to a nappy that has a sensing device to "Alarm" when wet.
Nappies of one form or another have been around a long time, and when they get wet they cause discomfort, rashes, and generally,an unhappy baby.Checking for dampness has always been a problem, having to remove items of clothing in order to get at the nappyjust to discover it,s dry after all.
With this invention however, there will be no need to remove any clothing until necessary,as the nappy, when wet, sets off an alarm device, secreted in the waist-band of the nappy.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described, with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1:-Shows the complete invention.
Figure 2:-Shows the sensing device.
Refering to the drawing, the nappy consists of,a nappy -l,an electronic alarm-3,and two sensing electrodes-2.
The electrodes are woven into the fabric of the nappy and connected to a sealed miniature "Musical Alarm" secreted in the waist-band of the nappy-l,as can be seen from Fig 1.
The alarm unit -3,consists of a power source in the form of a button battery-5,a pezzo electric sounder-6,and an integrated circuit-7,as can be seen from Fig 2,where the device -3,is shown actual size, with on board I.C,sounder, and battery. The electrodes-2,are connected to the unit to form the overall sensor.
The electrodes are formed by tinned copper wire 0.1 5mm in diameter,or flat foil self adhesive tape 0.2 mm thick by 9mm wide. When the nappy becomes wet,the dampness creates a circuit between the two conductors (electrodes) and sets off the alarm, which will then continue thus prompting investigation
