Abstract
A multi size wallplug is made by rolling a rectangular piece (23) cut from a flexible flat sheet (20), to form a cylinder for insertion in a bore hole so as to receive a screw. The flat sheet (20) is ribbed at (21) to assist cutting, and has angled barbs (22). Several plugs may be combined to fit large holes.
Description
UNMIVERSAL WALLPLUG
Wallplugs are well known items commonly used in household and in the building and construction trades. Many materials e.g. brick, mortar and plaster will not accept a permanent screw fixing unless used with a wallplug or similar.
Wallplugs are commonplace, but are ready made into various set sizes. If one size of wallplug is purchased, it's useful only for drillholes made to the same approximate diameter.
An object of this invention is to have a wallplug which can be adapted to fit any sized drillhole up to the physical size of the wallplug itself.
Accordingly, this invention provides a flexible wallplug which can be adapted to fit a wide range of drillhole sizes. It can also be combined with several or more of these wallplugs to suit drillhole sizes plysically larger than a single wallplug. Another object of this invention is to be able to make a wallplug which can be large enough to suit the biggest drillhole size known, but can still be adapted to suit any size drillhole smaller than this.
Preferably, the wallplug should be made of plastic, and should easily
be cut by a craftknife.
A preferred embodiment of the invention will now be described, with
reference to the accompanying drawing in which:
Fig 1 shows a front end view of the wallplug
Fig 2 shows an end view
Fig 3 shows a top view
Fig 4 shows a common size adaptation
Fig 5 shows how to arrange the wallplug
Fig 6 shows how to insert the wallplug
As shown in Fig. 1, the wallplug os a continuous sheet of plastic or similar, ribbed to the front as shown from top to bottom to assist cutting with a craftknife or similar. It's also barbed at the rear with the barbs angled to make the wallplug easy to insert, but more difficult to pull out.
Fig 2 shows from the end that the wallplug is comparatively narrow at the top edge, and widens out to make the bottom edge thicker.
Fig 3 shows that the plastic or similar is regularly ribbed or fluted to act as a cutting guide.
Fig 4 shows that a section of the full sized wallplug has been sliced to suit a particular sized drillhole. The unused section of wallplug remains for further use.
Fig 5 shows the section of wallplug rolled up, ready to be inserted into the drillhole.
Fig 6 shows the section of wallplug being inserted into the drillhole.
