Abstract
A mobile phone is mountable to cradle 11 and can be interfaced with connector 20 so that headset 12 can be used instead of placing the mobile phone against the operators head. The mobile phone is friction fitted into the cradle and the headset can then be lifted off its arresting hook 13 and is allowed to stretch sufficiently to reach from the phone to the users ear and mouth, or by means of a winding cable retraction mechanism, 21. The mobile phone is mounted in the cradle in an inverted position so the phone is seen and operated without need to remove from its mount ie. Operators trouser belt.
Description
MOBILE PHONE RETRACTABLE REMOTE HANDSET
This invention relates to a retractable remote handset for a Mobile phone.
Mobile phones are well known methods of wireless communication, allowing the operator to connect remotely to the Public Telephone Network. There are cradles for mobile phones which allow the phone to be mounted on an operators hip or trouser belt. The mobile phone is dismounted and placed against the operators head to allow the voice of the operator to reach the internally mounted microphone and for the operator to hear, via the internal speaker within the mobile phone.
Mobile phones, however, emit quantities of electromagnetic radiation which is in turn transmitted through the operators head. The phone must also be removed from the mount on the operators hip or belt in order to be used.
According to the present invention there is provided a means of releasably securing the phone to a cradle, in the form of a mounting bracket, capable of holding the phone, a means of securing the cradle to the operator, an extendible cord capable of reaching the operators head and a means by which the cord is interfaced with the internal workings of the phone, a handset comprising microphone and speaker with which to interface, via the extendible cord, to the phone and perform the function of the phones internal microphone and speaker.
The handset must retract neatly back to the cradle and be mounted upon the cradle.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing...
Figure 1 shows a perspective, the mobile phone mounted in cradle. The remote handset is in the operating position.
Figure 2 illustrates the mobile phone separated from the cradle as it is about to be mounted. Also, the Remote Handset has been retracted and is about to be remounted back onto the cradle.
Referring to the drawing the Mobile phone remote handset comprises a cradle 11, which may be made of various materials, such as leather or plastic, which allows the phone to be securely held, and a removable handset 12.
In order to secure the handset to the cradle a small hook 13, or Velcro, or magnet is provided. The handset is lifted onto the hook to be secured and the procedure reversed to remove the handset from the cradle. A small magnet may be provided to perform the function of the hook, or similar means, as an alternative.
In order to use the retractable handset, as illustrated in Fig 1, the handset 12 is detached from hook 13. Cable 14 allows the handset to be extended to the operators head. The mobile phone 15 remains attached to the operators hip or belt via belt clip 16 or in another location away from the operators head.
In order to provide an interface with the mobile phones internal microphone and speaker, the handset consists of a microphone 18 and speaker 17. In order to attach the handset to the users ear, a bar 19.
An interface with the mobile phones internal workings is provided via connector 20.
Cable 14 is returned to its original non stretched state, as illustrated in Fig2, by a winding cable retraction mechanism, 21.
Cable 14b is elastic in nature and is returned to it's original non stretch state, as illustrated in Figl(b), an elastic may be run through its centre and secured at each end (not shown).
