Abstract

A detachable bumper mounted towing bracket comprises a bracket for mounting over the front or rear bumper of a vehicle and locking bolts to secure the bracket in place. The bracket has a substantially U-shaped cross-section and slots over the vehicle bumper where it is locked in place by the locking bolts passing through apertures on both arms of the U-shape. Holes are provided in the bracket for securing standard towing attachments to the bracket. The bracket can be quickly and easily removed when not required.

Description

Detachable Bumper Mounted Bracket This invention relates to a detachable bumper mounted towing bracket.
Towing brackets are obtainable in various shapes and forms. They are bolted or welded to the vehicle and are unattractive to look at and after a certain period of time become rusty when permanently attached to a vehicle as they are mostly made of mild steal.
According to the present invention there is provided a detachable bumper mounted towing bracket, which comprises of a steel bracket which when fitted onto/over the bumper and secured by the securing bolts allows various trailers and attachments to be attached to the bracket.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which Figure 1 shows in perspective the detachable towing bracket.
Figure 2 shows the securing bolts.
Figure 3 shows in perspective the detachable towing bracket attached to the bumper.
Figure 4 shows in perspective the detachable towing bracket attached to the bumper with securing bolts attached.
Referring to the drawing the towing bracket comprises a steel bracket 1 and securing bolts 2.
In order to operate the towing bracket you position the towing bracket 1 onto/over the bumper with towing attachment positioned below bumper level. You then insert the securing bolts 2 through holes positioned in either side of towing bracket just under bumper and tighten securing bolts in a clockwise direction.
To remove the towing bracket from the bumper the steps described above are carried out in the reverse sequence.
A detachable bumper mounted towing bracket in steel which when positioned onto/over the bumper, allows various trailers and attachments to be attached to the towing bracket and can be quickly and easily removed when not required.

Claims (4)

Claims
1. A detachable vehicle bumper mounted towing bracket comprising a bracket for mounting over the front or rear bumper of the vehicle and two locking bolts which pass through apertures in the lower end of the bracket and secure the bracket in position.
2. A detachable bumper mounted towing bracket as claimed in 1 which when positioned on the front left hand side or front right hand side of the vehicle allows you to push or tow trailers increasing manoeuvrability visibility and safety.
3. A detachable bumper mounted towing bracket as claimed in claim 1 or claim 2 wherein the bracket can be removed and stored when not in use, increasing the safety of the vehicle.
4. A detachable bumper mounted towing bracket as claimed in claim 3 wherein the bracket can be removed and stored when not in use, increasing the life and appearance of the bracket.
