Abstract

A putter has a level indicator 3 such as a spirit level mounted in a shaft of a putter. The modified putter can be used to measure the slope of a putting green.

Description

TITLE : PUTTER BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION The invention relates to a putter. More particularly, the invention relates to a putter which has a level indicator.

Referring to FIG. 1, a conventional putter has a head A, a neck A2 disposed on the head A, a shaft B disposed on the neck A2, and a handle C disposed on the shaft B. The head A has a hitting face Al to hit a ball. However, the conventional putter cannot be used to measure a slope of a putting green. Referring to FIG. 2, a golfer should estimate the slope of the putting green by expericence. The golfer often squats on the putting green to watch a line between a ball and a putting hole. The estimation may be wrong so that the golfer may use too much force or too little force to hit the ball.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION An object of the invention is to provide a putter which can measure a slope of a putting green.

Accordingly, a putter comprises a head, a hollow neck disposed on the head, a hollow shaft disposed on the hollow neck, and a handle disposed on the hollow shaft. The head has a hitting face. The hollow shaft has an elongated slot. A level indicator is inserted in the hollow shaft and located in the elongated slot.

The handle has a through hole to receive an upper portion of the hollow shaft. A lower end of the hollow shaft is inserted in an upper interior of the hollow neck.

A cover is adhered on a top of the handle. A bubble is formed in the level indicator.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION Referring to FIGS. 3 and 4, a putter comprises a head 1, a hollow neck 12 disposed on the head 1, a hollow shaft 2 disposed on the hollow neck 12, and a handle 4 disposed on the hollow shaft 2. The head 1 has a hitting face 11 to hit a ball 5 (as shown in FIG. 9). The hollow shaft 2 has an elongated slot 21. A level indicator 3 is inserted in the hollow shaft 2 and located in the elongated slot 21. The handle 4 has a through hole 41 to receive an upper portion of the hollow shaft 2. A lower end 113 of the hollow shaft 2 is inserted in an upper interior of the hollow neck 12.

A cover 42 is adhered on a top of the handle 4 by an adhesive. A bottom of the level indicator 3 is adhered in the handle 4 by an adhesive also.

The level indicator 3 contains a liquid. A bubble 31 is formed in the level indicator 3.

Referring to FIG. 5, the putter is placed on a level green so that the bubble 31 in the level indicator 3 will indicate wether the green is really level or not.

Referring to FIG. 6, the putter is placed on a slant green so that the bubble 31 in the level indicator 3 will indicate the slope of the slant green.

Referring to FIGS. 7 to 9, the putter is placed on a putting green. The putter is placed on the putting green several times in different directions to determine the slopes of the putting green in different directions so that the golfer can hit the ball in the right direction.

The invention is not limited to the above embodiment but various modification thereof may be made. Further, various changes in form and detail may be made without departing from the scope of the invention.

Claims

I CLAIM:

1. A putter comprising: a head having a hitting face, a hollow neck disposed on the head, a hollow shaft disposed on the hollow neck, a handle disposed on the hollow shaft, the hollow shaft having an elongated slot, a level indicator inserted in the hollow shaft and located in the elongated slot, the handle having a through hole to receive an upper portion of the hollow shaft, and a lower end of the hollow shaft inserted in an upper interior of the hollow neck.

2. A putter as claimed in claim 1, wherein a cover is adhered on a top of the handle.

3. A putter as claimed in claim 1, wherein the level indicator comprises a liquid and a bubble.

4. A putter substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to and as shown in Figures 3 to 9 of the accompanying drawings.
