Abstract

A pedal cycle saddle comprising two separate seat pads. The saddle is of two types adjustable and non-adjustable. In the adjustable type the pads adjust horizontally to positions apart at various angles or adjust to be contiguous wholly or partly. In the non-adjustable type the pads are in permanent /fixed position apart wholly or partly. When partly apart the pads touch or are joined at the rear only. In each type the pads adjust at vertical angles.

Description

TWO PAD SADDLE This invention relates to a pedal cycle saddle comprising two separate seat pads.
A conventional pedal cycle saddle comprises one seat pad. This pad has centre and nose areas which can cause discomfort, sometimes substantial, and impair pleasure and performance. A two pad saddle comprises two seat pads positioned apart and side by side. It has no centre and nose areas and so cannot cause such discomfort or impairment.
The size and shape of the pads can vary with requirements of support, comfort and performance. The pads have to be of sufficient area to give 111 support. The inner edge of each pad may be straight, or nearly so. On each pad there may be a small front protrusion to act as a leg guide.
The two pad saddle is oftwo types, adjustable and non-adjustable.
In the adjustable type, the pads can be moved horizontally on an adjusting sub-frame mechanism to discontiguous positions with inner edges, parallel or diverging, or to a contiguous position, wholly or partly. When the pads are wholly contiguous they effectively form one saddle. However, they retain the option of adjustment to an open position which a one pad saddle does not.
In the non-adjustable type, the pads are permanently fixed apart with inner faces parallel or diverging, or are contiguous or joined at the rear but apart in the centre and front. In the latter forms it is effectively one saddle but keeps the essential characteristic of the two pad saddle in the open centre and front.
Both types adjust at vertical angles.

Claims (3)

1. A two seat pad pedal cycle saddle comprising two separate seat pads by a subframe adjustable both horizontally to position facing pad edges apart and parallel or diverging or contiguous wholly or partly.
2. A two pad saddle comprising two seat pads by a subframe permanently fixed either apart with facing pad edges parallel or diverging or partly contiguous in which case the pads join at the rear.
3. In both the adjustable and permanently fixed forms the saddle is adjustable at vertical angle.
