Abstract

When preparing foodstuffs privately or for public consumption the less the food is handled, the less the chance of potentially harmful germs contaminating the food. The hygienic helper is made from pressed stainless steel in one piece. This avoids any areas where germs can collect and mulitply and enables it to be washed at very high temperatures without any detriment. Having rounded edges makes for a more safe piece of apparatus when being handled and/or stored. The recess for the knife shields hands from further risk of accident and pressure can be applied from above when cutting without risk of infecting the food being prepared.

Description

This device is a hygienic helper for use in food preparation.
In order to cut down on possible food contamination due to passing on germs when preparing sandwiches and rolls, hygiene is paramount and the less contact by human touch, the better.
Cutting food stuff ready for consumption, usually involves the use of one hand squashed over the top of the sandwich(es) or roll(s) to apply enough pressure to cut cleanly, and obviously any germs on the hand utill be imlllediately transferred to the food.
This Helper is placed over the sandwich(es) etc to be cut and held firmly; a knife is placed in the recess and the sandwich(es) or roll(s) are cut through evenly and hygienically with minimal touch.
The design requires no moving parts and would be pressed from one piece of stainless steel, 16cm in diameter with a 3cm recess running across that diameter for the knife placement (please see Figures 1,2,3 and 4 for illustration).
For added safety the edges are slightly rounded. As it is crafted from stainless steel, it can be washed at very high temperatures, with no risk of damage and there are no grooves where germs and dirt can collect and multiply.
Figure 1 Shows the hygienic helper from above, displaying the rounded edges for safety and the recess running diagonally across for the cutting knife to sit, serrated edge facing downwards towards food stuff, 1 6cm in diameter with a 3cm recess for the knife.
Figure 2 Shows very crude side view, again M ith the recess for the knife to sit in, 16cm in diameter with a 3cm recess for the knife.
Figure 3 Shows the view looking at t he hygienic helper from the bottom, again showing rounded edges for safety and the recess in which the knife is placed, 16cm in diameter with 3cm recess for the knife.
Figure 4 Shows the hygienic helper in full effect. A knife has been placed in the 3cm recess. serrated edge down, across the 1 6cm diameter, and the helper is placed over the top of the item to be cut. Without necessitating human contact with the item, pressure can be applied over the top of the helper by hand, resulting in a smooth cut to the item. whilst ensuring potentially dangerous equipment ie the knife. is kept out of the way.
