Abstract
A hand held game for two or more players in which a set of discs are provided, having one or more holes, which are covered by self adhesive membranes attached to the discs to form drum type skins. The disc assemblies are secured in a holder (Figure 1). The object of the game is then to rupture the membranes using a dedicated striker (Figures 7 and 8).
Description
(Technical This invention relates to a hand held game to be played by two field) or more children,or adults.
(Background) Historical schoolyard games take many forms.
One such game commonly played is sometimes referred to as
"Conkers".
The object of this game being to break the opponents conker
(horse chesnut) by striking it with ones own conker.
Conkers however, may only be played seasonaly and can be
regarded as much a game of chance as skill.
(Essential According to the present invention there is provided a set of technical discs into which holes of various diameters are formed.
features)
Self adhesive membranes, supplied on backing sheets, are attached
to the discs, forming drum type skins.
The disc assemblies are inserted into a seperate holder which
both secures the discs and enables the unit to be suspended
in the vertical or horizontal planes by means of cords.
The cords are firmly attached to the disc holder and the discs
are positively held in the holder to prevent any part
accidently detaching.
A seperate striker forms the final element of the game.
The striker is of spherical form, profiled on one side to form
a leading edge.
A cord is secured to the striker to enable it to be firmly
held and swung through the air without detaching itself.
(Example) A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described
by way of an example with referance to the accompanying
drawings in which:
Figure I shows in plan, the disc holder.
Figure 2 shows a cross sectional side view through the disc
holder.
Figure 3 illustrates a typical disc in plan view, various inner
hole diameters are indicated by broken lines.
figure 4 illustrates in plan, the self adhesive disc membrane
prior to removal from its backing sheet.
Figure 5 shows a cross sectional side view of the disc with the membrane fitted.
Figure 6 illustrates a part sectional elevation of the disc holder with disc assembly inserted.
Figure 7 illustrates in plan view, the striker.
Figure 8 shows a cross sectional side view of the striker.
Figure 9 illustrates in perspective, the loaded disc holder and striker in operation.
Referring to the drawings the game comprises a disc holder I, cord attachment points 2 and disc securing lugs plus seating 3 & 4.
The self adhesive membrane 5,is removed from its backing sheet 6 and fitted to the disc 8 as shown in figure 5.
The disc assembly is then loaded into the disc holder as shown in figure 6.
A cord is secured to the striker II via a through hole I2.
The leading edge of the striker I3,is presented to the loaded disc holder as indicated in figure 9.
Claims (9)
- I A hand held game comprising a set of annular discs.Self adhesive membranes capable of covering the discs.A holder to retain and suspend the disc assemblies and a seperate striker with which to rupture the disc membranes.
- 2 Discs as claimed in claim I wherein the outer diameter remains constant but the inner hole diameters are varied
- 3 Self adhesive membranes as claimed in claim I wherein the membranes securly attach to the discs previously claimed in claim 2,and to be capable of printing with graphics.
- 4 3elf adhesive membranes as claimed in claim 3,supplied on a backing sheet, capable of easy attachment and removal from the annular discs.
- 5 Self adhesive membranes as claimed in claims 3 & 4 wherein the backing sheet is capable of printing with graphics.Tnese sheets to represent (identified) different values,ie low through to high.
- 6 A disc holder as claimed in claim I wherein the annular disc assemblies are secured by means of a simple retaining device to prevent accidental loss of the disc assembly.
- 7 A disc holder as claimed in claims I & 6 wherein a means of attaching a cord or cords is provided, enabling the holder to be suspended or held in the vertical or horizontal planes.
- 8 A striker as claimed in claim I wherein a means of securing a cord is provided. The body of the striker may be formed with a leading edge to assist in punturing the disc membranes.
- 9 A hand held game for two or more players substantially as described herein with reference to figures I through to 9 of the accompanying drawings.
