Abstract

A barrel comprises end walls and a cylindrical side wall which are all made of transparent material so that the contents can be seen, the side wall having a measuring scale 2. The barrel may also comprise a dispensing outlet 1, bonded rubber rolling rings 3, a reduced diameter base 4 for stacking purposes, and coloured identification bands 5.

Description

TRANoPATRANT BARREL This invention relates to a transparantbeer barrel.
Beer barrels are well known containers for the transportution and dispensing of all types of beeis,ales, lagers e.t.c. They dispense the alcohol under pressure through valves in the top. Tie pressure is supplied by a gas mix piped from a remote source into a tube in the top which pushes alcohol out through another tube in the top.
Real ale barrels are slightly different sha ped and do not use mechanical gas pressure but use e manual gas pressure supplied by hand pumping, they also have different connectious.
These barrels where made of wood some time ago but they are now made of metals > e. aluminium. This is a very difficult medium to check volumes from and keep adequate stock control of.
According to the present invention there is provided a transparant barrel for transport and dispensing of beers It has a conventional shaped top, ,, but in a transparent form. A cylindrical body *itch bonded rubber rings around the middle, and shaped bottom all transparent. It also has coloured bands incorporated for identific action.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: Figure 1 shows the basic barrel shape with bonded rubber bands and reduced bottom diameter, with scale and identifiction bands.
Figure 2 illustrates two barrels indicsting the stackability.
Figure 3 shows another shape and form of the same idea, but for real ales which has different but conventional connections.
Referring to the drawing the barrel comprises a dispensing outlet 1 at the top of the barrel which is compatible with existing types of connection.
Xo monitor the level of stock in the barrel a scale 2 is provided on the side.
In order to protect the barrels from damage , two rubber bands 3 are bonded to the cylinder for rolling purposes.
In order to facilitate the stacking of the barrel the bottom dismeter is reduced 4 and is also compatible with conventional barrels The barrel is wholly fransparent apart from coloured bands 5 which are used for brewery identification.

Claims (2)

1 A barrel comprising a transparent cylinder with a scale up one side and sealed at both ends with transparent materials so as to form a water tight seal. With dispensing outlet at the top.
2 A barrel as claimed in I Claim 1 wherein the body has a reduced diameter at the bottom for stacking and bonded rubber bands around the cylinder for rolling. Also coloured bands for identificatione 3 A barrel substantially as described herein with reference to Figures 1-3 of the accompanying drawing.
