Abstract

The album comprises a cover with a central spine portion 8 having front and rear cover portions 4,5 separated therefrom by fold lines 6,7. A paper strip 9 carrying an adhesive 11 extends over the spine portion, the adhesive being protected by a pull-off strip 13. The end face of a stack of pictures is pressed into the adhesive to removably fix the pictures into the album. The width of the adhesive 11 may extend over the fold lines into the cover portions 4,5.

Description

ALBUM FOR RECEIVING A STACK OF PICTURES The invention relates to an album for receiving a stack of pictures.
The object of the invention is to provide an album for receiving a stack of pictures which can be produced simply and at low cost.
According to the present invention there is provided an album for receiving a stack of pictures, comprising a one-piece blank of a foldable flat material with a first lateral portion, a central portion adjoining it, a second lateral portion adjoining the central portion, first and second fold lines which are arranged substantially parallel to one another and at a distance from one another, the first fold line being provided between the first lateral portion and the central portion, the second fold line being provided between the second lateral portion and the central portion and a bonding agent being provided in the central portion on the side facing the stack of pictures to be received, which bonding agent affixes the stack of pictures to be received in the album when the edges of the pictures of the stack of pictures are in contact with the bonding agent.
The invention will now be described, by way of example, with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which: Figure 1 shows a plan view of a spread-out blank of the album of the invention, and Figure 2 is an enlarged fragmentary cross-sectional view on the line II - II in Figure 1, the thicknesses of the layers being exaggerated for clarity of the illustration.
Figure 1 shows a spread-out, one-piece blank 1 made of a flat material which forms a base structure from which the album is folded. The flat material preferably consists of paper or paperboard. As shown in Figure 1, the blank 1 is rectangular with two longitudinal sides 2 and two transverse sides 3. The blank has respective first and second lateral portions 4, 5, which each adjoin a transverse side 3. The size of the two lateral portions is preferably chosen such that they are each somewhat larger than the customary sizes of paper prints of photos. As can best be seen from Figure 2, the two lateral portions 4, 5 are joined to a central portion 8 via respective first and second fold lines or bend lines 6, 7.
The fold lines 6, 7 are at a distance from one another and run parallel to one another and parallel to the transverse sides 3.
Further, a carrier strip 9 with respective first and second lateral edges 15, 16 is provided. The two lateral edges 15, 16 are parallel to one another and are at a distance from one another which is chosen to be greater than the distance between the fold lines 6, 7. The length of the carrier strip 9 corresponds substantially to the length of the transverse sides 3.
The carrier strip 9 is formed from a flexible material. It may, for example, consist of a thin paper strip or paperboard strip.
The carrier strip 9 has a first side 14 and a second side 10. The first side 14, facing the base structure, of the carrier strip 9 is joined or stuck to the two lateral portions 4, 5. The carrier strip 9 is arranged such that the lateral edges 15, 16 are parallel to the fold lines 6, 7 and the distance of the first lateral edge 15 from the first fold line 6 corresponds substantially to the distance of the second lateral edge 16 from the second fold line 7.
The carrier strip 9 is stuck to a region of the first lateral portion 4, which is at a distance from the first fold line 6, and is stuck to a region of the second lateral wall 5, which is at a distance from the second fold line 7.
On the second side 10, facing away from the base structure of the carrier strip 9, adhesive is deposited in the form of a strip 11. The width of the strip 11 is preferably chosen to be somewhat greater than the distance between the fold lines 6 and 7, so as to extend from the central portion, over the first and second fold lines, into the first and second lateral portions. However, as shown in Figure 2, the width of strip 11 can, in an alternative embodiment, be less than said distance between the the fold lines. The length of the strip 11 is chosen to be less than the length of the transverse sides 3. The strip 11 is deposited such that the respective ends of the strip 11 are at a distance from the longitudinal sides 2. This prevents the applied adhesive from being pressed onto the edges of the longitudinal sides 2 as the blank 1 is punched out. The strip 11 forms an adhesive or bonding area 12. The adhesive contains a material which adheres on contact and which is suitable for sticking on pictures or paper prints, that is to say which does not damage the stuck-on paper prints.
Preferably, such a material is chosen which affixes the paper prints securely in the album and from which the paper prints can be detached again without damage.
A pull-off protective strip 13 is deposited on the adhesive area 12 for protection against unintentional sticking. The size of the protective strip 13 is chosen such that it covers the entire adhesive area 12 and extends beyond it somewhat so that it can easily be pulled off.
In use, the protective strip 13 over the adhesive area 12 is pulled off from the spread-out blank 1. The stack of pictures to be received is then tapped on its narrow side so that a level end face of the stack of pictures is formed. The end face thus formed is pressed onto the adhesive area 12. Through the pressing contact, the end face and thus each of the edges of the narrow sides of the pictures adheres to the adhesive area 12 and the stack of pictures is affixed in the album.
The lateral areas 4, 5 are then folded along the fold lines 6, 7 so that the front side of the first picture of the stack of pictures and the rear side of the last picture of the stack of pictures are covered. The album is thereby formed.
In a further embodiment, a pocket in which the film negatives can be received is also provided on the second lateral area 5.
In a further embodiment, the strip 11 is not continuous but interrupted.
