Abstract

Shelves for a PC are wall mounted to optimise limited work space and can be mounted over a desk to free up much needed desk space otherwise taken up with the components of a PC system. The shelves 1 accommodate the computer housing, printer and disks while the VDU and keyboard remain on top of the desk, and with more space available allows the keyboard and VDU to be positioned ergonomically, thus helping to prevent back and neck injuries caused by cumulative stresses from poor postures. Most PC systems require additional power points so these are provided as an integral part of the workstation within the fourway power point 2. The light fitting 3 allows for additional directional illumination over the work area and eliminates the need for a desktop lamp, again conserving desktop space.

Description

WALL MOUNTED PERSONAL COMPUTER WORKSTATION This invention relates to a wall mounted Personal Computer (PC ) workstation.
A number of portable workstations which comprise of a number of shelves for housing the different components of a PC system are well known. However they are designed to be free standing I stand alone units which require additional floor space for accommodation and are uncomfortable to work at.
This wall mounted work station is developed to optimise limited floor space and provide an ergonomically designed work area which will minimise back problems.
According to the present invention there is provided a wall mounted PC workstation comprising of two shelves, with front, back and sides, one light fitting with on / off pull switch, and one 13 amp fused fourway trailing socket.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: Figure 1 shows an isometric drawing of the workstation with two shelves and front, back and sides, a four way power point and light fitting.
Figure 2 shows an example of a layout of the component parts of the PC system on the workstation.
Figure 3 shows an example of workstation positioned above existing desk.
Referring to the drawing - figure 1 - the workstation comprises two shelves 1 with a four way power point 2 and a light fitting 3 The two shelves are used to house the component parts of the PC system plus required literature, the four way power point provides the additional sockets for the PC components and light preventing a tangle of wires leading to the wall socket, the light provides additional directional illumination preventing shadows on the desk top area.
The wall mounted PC workstation could have more than two shelves to accommodate additional items, and more than one power point and one lamp.

Claims (8)

  1. WALL MOUNTED PC WORKSTATION 1 A PC Workstation comprising two shelves with front, back and sides designed to be wall mounted.
  2. 2 A PC Workstation as claimed in Claim 1 where additional power points are provide by an attached four way power point.
  3. 3 A PC Workstation as claimed in Claim 1 and Claim 2 where a light fitting provides additional directional illumination preventing shadows on the desk top area.
  4. 4 A PC Workstation as claimed in any preceding claims, wherein the shelves, front, back and sides form a single unit.
  5. 5 A PC Workstation as claimed in any preceding claims, wherein the unit is provided with at least one shelf.
  6. 6 A PC Workstation as claimed in any preceding claims, wherein the attached power point is provided with at least one socket.
  7. 7 A PC Workstation as claimed in any preceding claims, wherein the attached light fitting is provided with at least one lamp.
  8. 8 A PC Workstation substantially as described herein with reference to Figures 1 - 3 of the accompanying drawings.

    Amendments to the claims have been filed as follows 1 A wall mounted shelving unit for supporting a PC (personnel computer) above a working surface (for example a table), comprising of a t least one shelf and at least one power point installed and at least one light fitting installed on the unit to illuminate the working surface.
    2 A PC Workstation as claimed in Claim 1 where additional power points are provide by an attached four way power point.
    3 A PC Workstation as claimed in Claim 1 and Claim 2 where a light fitting provides additional directional illumination preventing shadows on the desk top area.
    4 A PC Workstation as claimed in any preceding claims, wherein the shelves, front, back and sides form a single unit.
    5 A PC Workstation as claimed in any preceding claims, wherein the unit is provided with at least one shelf.
    6 A PC Workstation as claimed in any preceding claims, wherein the attached power point is provided with at least one socket.
    7 A PC Workstation as claimed in any preceding claims, wherein the attached light fitting is provided with at least one lamp.
