Abstract

As shown in figure 1 the racket handle has a hollow shaft 30 with air vents 31 which allows for the free flow of air during the natural sweep of the racket during shots. The shaft is bound with a perforated grip surface 32 to allow air to flow through the vents. This design is suitable for racket sports including tennis, squash and badminton.

Description

RACKET HANDLE This invention relates to a new design for sports' racket handles.
It is well known that in order to play racket sports effectively and to place shots accurately it is essential that the player is able to sustain a strong grip of the racket during the game. The act of gripping the racket handle during play can cause players' palms to sweat and this can reduce the effectiveness of their hold. Excessive sweating can cause the racket handle to twist in the grasp of the player as he/she strikes the ball. This can lead to inaccurate shots and blistering of the hand. This design has been devised as a way to reduce the sweating of the hand by allowing the gripping hand to be cooler to reduce the adverse affects of excessive hand sweating during play.
The present invention provides a flow of air through air-vents in the racket handle.
The handle shaft itself is hollow with hole vents and is constructed without the baseend cap. The handle is bound in a grip surface that is perforated. This allows the flow of air through the shaft and out through the air-vents providing a cooling process with the natural sweep of the racket when the player is taking his/her shots. The handle can be constructed either separately from the racket head or be incorporated into a combined construction of the head and handle as one caste. The material forrning the handle shaft can be increased in density in order to counter-balance the weight of the racket head.
The invention is described and illustrated in the following figure: Figure 1 Shows the new handle (longitudinal and cross section view) as applied to a tennis racket.
Referring to figure 1 the handle consists of a hollow shaft 30 with air vents 31 in the handle shaft. There is a perforated grip 32 bound and secured to the shaft 30. The movement of the racket when playing shots will allow for the flow of air through the hollow shaft 30 and out through the air-vents 31.

Claims (5)

1 A racket handle allowing a flow of air through air-vents in the racket handle shaft. The handle shaft itself is hollow with hole vents and is constructed without the base-end cap. The handle is bound with a grip surface that is perforated. This allows the flow of air through the shaft and out through the air-vents.
2 The handle can be constructed either separately from the racket head or be incorporated into a combined construction of the head and handle as one caste.
3 The density of the material used to form the handle shaft can be increased to counter-balance the weight of the racket head.
4 The design can be applied to tennis, squash and badminton rackets.
5 A racket handle as described herein with reference to figure 1 of the accompanying drawing.
