Abstract

A drawer with a sagging base is repaired using a device having an outer slider 1, attached to the front of the drawer, which receives an inner slider 2 attached to the rear of the drawer. The two sliders lock in the engaged position by way of a ratchet and pin and serve to hold the drawer together and support the base. A further embodiment (Fig 4) for larger drawers shows an outer slider having three channels at right angles each receiving a slider attached respectively to a side or the back of the drawer. A construction (Fig 5) for repairing a broken connection between the drawer front and a side has two similarly engaging parts attached respectively to the inner surfaces of the drawer front and the corresponding side.

Description

Droopy Drawers Repair Kit This invention can be used as a single item or a complete drawer repair kit, for modern prepacked flirniture which is in almost every home.

Due to prepacked fliniture made from plyable wood the bottoms or sides tend to bow out when heavy objects are placed inside. The following device holds drawers firmly together and allows much heavier objects to be placed inside, and the device is very simple to fit.

Fig 4 Illustrates the 3 way slider 4. This device is for larger drawers eg divan beds ect. outer slider 1 fixs to the front ofthe drawer and inner slider 2 is cut to any size required hooked over side and back panels ofthe drawer and pushed in place.

FigS Illustrates a device for repairing broken drawer corners and front panels. 5 is screwed to front drawer, panel 6 is screwed to side panel. The drawer is squared up and the device 5 and 6 are pushed together. The rachet on 6 locks in place in 5 with the fine teeth inside the mortice.

All these devices are made from a nylon type plastic

1. CLAIMS 1. This drawer reinforcement incorporates two adjustable locking sliders and can be fitted to many types of drawers in new and used furniture quickly and simply.
2. 2. The drawer reinforcement as claimed in my preceding claims can be fitted to drawers in early and modern day furniture which is made economically and pre-packed for convenience. Some materials tend to bow and warp out of shape, constant use and heavy items sometimes cause the bottoms of drawers to fall out. The device is fitted to the underside of a drawer by two fixing plates to the front and back drawer panels. The two sliders are pushed together and locked in place. Once the device is fitted the drawers can store much heavier items, the repair is invisible and none of the original storage space is taken up by the reinforcement.
