Abstract

The cassette loading mechanism comprises a motor 21 provideded with a worm, a worm wheel 22 engaged with the worm of the driving motor, an intermediate gear 23 rotating with the worm wheel 22, a cam gear 24 driven by the intermediate gear and a cassette loading lever 13 engaged with the cam gear 24. To prevent the worm wheel 22 becoming disengaged from the worm when the lever 13 is stopped a counterpart worm wheel 122 is provided at the opposite side of the worm.

Description

CASSETTE LOADING DEVICE FOR USE IN A VIDEO CASSETTE RECORDER The present invention relates to a video cassette recorder ("VCR"); and, more particularly, to a cassette loading device for use therein, which is capable of preventing a worm of a driving motor from being disengaged from a worm wheel.
There is shown in Fig. 1 a schematic top view of a conventional cassette loading device employed in a VCR. The conventional cassette loading device comprises a driving motor 20 having a shaft on which a worm 21 is formed, a worm wheel 22 engaged with the worm 21 of the driving motor 20, an intermediate gear 23 synchronously rotating with the worm wheel 22, a cam gear 24 engaged with the intermediate gear 23, and an elongated lever 13 slidably mounted under a deck 10.
The lever 13 is provided with, at one end, a first rack portion 14 engaged with the cam gear 24 and, at the other end, a second rack portion 15 engaged with a loading arm 30 supporting a cassette holder 11. The lever 13 moves in a lengthwise direction depending on the rotation of the cam gear 24 to rotate the loading arm 30 so that a tape cassette Ca in the cassette holder 11 is loaded into or ejected from the VCR.
In such a conventional cassette loading device, upon the eject mode of the VCR, the lever 13 is likely to stop over a predetermined stop position thereof due to the inertia rotational force of the driving motor 20; and, therefore, a stopper 11 is employed to prevent the lever from moving over the stop position. The stopper 11 compulsively stops the lever 13 and hence the worm wheel 22, while the worm 21 rotates due to the inertia rotational force of the driving motor 20. As a result of the above, a repulsive force is generated between the worm wheel and the worm, which may force the worm to be disengaged from the worm wheel.
It is, therefore, a primary object of the invention to provide a cassette loading device for use in a VCR, which capable of preventing a worm from being disengaged with a worm wheel.
In accordance with one aspect of the present invention, there is provided a cassette loading device for use in a video cassette recorder, the device comprising: a driving motor provided with a worm; a worm wheel engaged with the worm of the driving motor; an intermediate gear synchronously rotating with the worm wheel; a cam gear engaged with the intermediate gear; a lever provided with at one end a rack portion engaged with the cam gear, the lever moving in a lengthwise direction depending on the rotation of the cam gear; and a counterpart worm wheel engaged, at the opposite side of the worm wheel, with the worm of the driving motor, thereby preventing the worm of the driving motor from being disengaged from the worm wheel.
The above and other objects and features of the present invention will become apparent from the following description of preferred embodiments taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings, in which: Figs. 1 and 2 show schematic top and side views of a deck of a VCR incorporating therein a conventional cassette loading device; Fig. 3 illustrates a schematic top view of a deck of a VCR incorporating therein a cassette loading device of the present invention; and Fig. 4 represents a sectional view taken along the line I - I in Fig. 3.
A cassette loading device in accordance with a preferred embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to Fig. 2 as well as Figs. 3 and 4, and like reference numerals present like components.
The cassette loading device of the present invention comprises a driving motor 20 having a shaft on which a worm 21 is formed, a worm wheel 22 engaged with the worm 21 of the driving motor 20, an intermediate gear 23 synchronously rotating with the worm wheel 22, a cam gear 24 engaged with the intermediate gear 23, an elongated lever 13 slidably mounted under a deck 10, and a counterpart worm wheel 122 engaged with the worm 21 at the opposite side of the worm wheel 22.
A stopper 11 is disposed under the deck 10 to prevent the lever from moving over a predetermined stop position thereof.
The stopper compulsively stops the lever and hence the worm wheel, while the worm rotates due to the inertia rotational force of the driving motor.
According to the present invention, although a repulsive force is generated between the worm 21 and the worm wheel 22, the counterpart worm wheel 122 engaged with the worm 21 restrains the displacement of the worm 21, thereby preventing the worm 21 from being disengaged from the worm wheel 22.
Although the invention has been shown and described with respect to the preferred embodiments, it will be understood by those skilled in the art that various changes and modifications may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as defined in the following claims.
