Description

2312269 76500851 GB Thermostatically controlled adjusting device for
radiator valves io The present invention relates to a thermostatically controlled adjusting device for radiator valves according to the preamble of claim 1. Such a device is known from DE-32 43, 552 C2. For locking the thermostat head and the valve against rotation with respect to each other there a multiple-cornered nut is provided at the valve and a multiple-cornered cut-out is provided at the thermostat head which act together when both parts are connected with each other. With respect to other thermostatically controlled adjusting devices for radiator valves rotational locking is effected by means of an axially directed cam at the thermostat head which engages an according groove at the valve. With this respect it appeared that the manufacturers of the thermostat valves having the first mentioned locking device are using valve stems which have a larger diameter than the thermostat valves having the last mentioned locking device.
It is therefore the object of the present invention to design an adjusting device of the above mentioned type in such a way that it is able to act optionally together with one of said two rotational locking devices without the necessity to provide any adapters for compensation of different length or to provide additional adjusting possibilities.
A thermostat head for radiator valves which can be adapted by means of an adapter to different length of valve stems of valve housings is known from DE 43 44 773 AI.
The solution of the above mentioned object is achieved according to the characterizing features of claim 1. Further advantageous embodiments of the inventive adjusting device may be taken from the dependent claims.
2 With respect to the figures of the attached drawing in the following an embodiment of the invention shall be described. It shows:
Fiaure 1 an axial section along the thermostatically controlled adjusting device according to the invention; Figure 2 a section along line II-11 in figure 1; and Figure 3 an enlarged detail from figure 1.
0 According to the attached figures 1 to 3) a thermostat head 10 comprises a centrally io arranged thermocouple element 12 which is axial adjustable by means of a rotatable screw cap 14. The thermostat head 12 by means of its plunger 16 acts upon a spacer which abuts by means of a coil spring 18 against a mounting support 20. The mounting support 20 comprises in its bottom a bore 22 which is recessed in diameter. This bore is engaged by the valve stem of a not shown valve.
The thermostat head 10 comprises a footrest 24 which is engaged at a collar 26 by a cap screw 28 which by engagement of its inner threading with an according outer threading of the valve secures the thermostat head 10 to the valve so that the footrest 24 is abutting the valve with an according stop collar 30.
The footrest 24 is provided with longitudinal slots 32 in order to provide radial resilient webs 34. The slots 3)2 are arranged on the perimeter with a spacing which is matched to a not-shown multiple-comered nut on the valve. Additionally the webs 34 are provided on their inner side with cut-outs ') 6, which are matched to said multiple-cornered nut and which may act together with said nut. Finally at least one axially extending, cam 36 IS formed at the webs 34 which engages a not-shown groove at the valve. Of course the cams and the groove may be interchanged.
When the thermostat head 10 is attached to the valve by means of the cap screw 28 30 corresponding conical faces at the cap screw 28 and the footrest 24 act touether and lock Z- z:4 the multip le- cornered cut-outs 36 to the not-shown multiple-cornered nut.
When the rotational locking device is provided by means of a cam 38 and an according groove then the cam engages the groove and the thermostat head 10 is seated against the c c) w 3 valve by means of its stop collar 30 or with its contact surface A3), respectively. In order to compensate for different length the valve stem herewith engages the recessed bore B3) with reduced diameter.
At a rotational locking device with a multiple-comered recess the cam 38 abuts the valve with the contact surface A4 and the valve stem engages the bore B4 with enlarged diameter.
In this connection it is to mention that some of the radiator valves on the market place io having a multiple-comered rotational locking device are using a valve stem with a diameter which is larger than the diameter of the valve stems of other radiator valves having a cam/groove rotational locking device. By an according dimensioning of the recessed bore and of the height distances H3 and H4 and by the provision of a cam as well as of a multiple-cornered recess the devised thermostat head therefore can be used in both cases 15 without further modifications.
