Abstract
A door plaque 4 has a printed name or message with a picture that is removable being printed on a self adhesive label 5. The label 5 may be placed on any chosen door plaque 4, being provided in many variations itself. A theme may form several labels to choose from, including characters for use with plaques on childrens rooms, and information or message compliments when used in commerical applications, including redirectional arrows, and changeable signs. The label 5 may be of transparent or opaque plastics and may be of a shape corresponding to the image thereon (Figure 3, not shown).
Description
Novel Door Plaque System This invention relates to a door plaque for use on various doors, having the ability to offer a removable label that may be introduced to the plaques surface. The label having a choice of picture or diagram that is chosen from possibly a number of different types by the user. This would allow the user to choose a plaque with possibly their name or a chosen themed name, and apply a corresponding or non corresponding picture label of their choice to the plaque.
Door plaques for use in commercial and domestic applications are already known, a typical example of this is shown in the enclosed description. This example being a childs name for use on a door to the childs room. These plaques also offer commercial information and provide a direct and simple way of informing persons of the function of a room or to offer information and direction throughout a building or dwelling.
The plaque being produced of various suitable materials is possibly provided with a self adhesive backing. This is normally peeled from backing paper allowing the plaque to bc applied to the door surface. The plaque may also be hung using a hook method to the door surface, some having raised or moulded artwork to their surface, giving a dimensional effect.
Artwork relating to these types of plaques are normally permanently printed or attached to the plaques surface, with a number of plaques being displayed for sale having different artwork in relation to different names being displayed for the user to choose their name in relation to the given artwork provided with that name. It may be possible to supply permanent artwork that offers several picture variations with each name. This would however offer a small and limited choice of pictures to each name, with no choice of picture beyond those offered.
These plaques are offered on display with the user purchasing their name with artwork printed onto the surface.
if the artwork is not desired, possibly being a choice of novel character or commercial image, the purchaser may be deterred from choosing a plaque at all, although the name or title may be to their choice.
Therefore, no choice between the name or title and the corresponding picture or diagram is offered outside those given on display.
The present invention seeks to provide an improved door plaque system, having a removable label that offers the user the ability to apply any number of pictures or diagrams, to any choice of name or title. With possibilities of the choice of different messages or titles applied using a larger removable label. Use of removable label possibly proving effective when in relation to a set of characters that the user may wish to choose from a group, or possibly choose one character owing to their specific colour or shape, or simply their preference to a particular character or picture.
Additional uses would suggest the ability to correspond the removable picture with the permanent or removable message to allow an instruction or direction to be completed, in relation to more commercial applications. Examples of which may include the main message being, 'Conference Room', with the removable label displaying an arrow that can be adjusted to any direction, and also relocated should its direction be changed. Any number of additional messages and desired information may be applied to a selected group of plaques.
According to the present invention there is provided a soild door or possibly wall plaque that has a printed name or instruction to its surface that is permanent. An area of unprinted surface is provided that corresponds with a removable label. The label would be one of any number given in a group as a choice, and would offer different pictures and diagram. The label being transparent would allow the base colour to show through the labels surface, and when fully applied the label would appear to be an original print onto the plaques surface. It may also be possble to provide a coloured label background that would correspond with the base colour of the plaque to which it is to be applied.
Once the desired label is chosen it can be applied to the required or chosen plaque base. These may be purchased as a complete or separate form once a decision has been made.
An embodiment of how the invention works will now follow with reference to the three accompanying diagrams which show
Fig 1 : A door plaque, showing just one example of a typical name or message, with a detached picture label.
Fig 2 : A door plaque with an attached picture label.
Fig 3 : A door plaque with an attached, shaped picture label.
The novel door plaque system is generally designated 5 and comprise a self adhesive transparent or opaque label 5 of various colours being applied to the surface of a corresponding door plaque 4, as shown in all figures.
The applied label 5 may come in various shapes, possibly square or shaped to that of the picture 6, as shown in Fig 3. It may be produced from various Vinyl transparent or opaque plastics, having a self adhesive quality, formed either from an applied adhesive or a natural adhering ability of the plastic. The label 5 would normally be flexible and sized to suit an available area on the surface of the plaque 4, as shown iD Fig 1, as a detached unit.
Once applied the label 5 would normally allow the base colour of the door plaque 4 to show through its surface, when presented as a transparent material. This would allow the label to blend with the original surface colour, and display the contrasted picture more effectively. A transparent label 5 would also allow labels to be applied to any given plaque background colour, and allow the picture to be presented suitably to that surface.
A shaped label 6 may also be applied, as shown in Fig 3, this would allow less of the transparent area shown in the square label 5, in Fig 1 and 2, to be visible.
Should the label be coloured, it would rely on the colour of the plaque to correspond with itself to produce the desired blend, and to allow a non viable border of the non shaped labels once applied. This may limit the application variation of the label. Labels may also be produced from a pulp based material when coloured, as this would not rely on the need to be transparent.
