Abstract

As many people are unable to reach high up shelving in shops or their own domestic shelving or cupboards the purpose of the invention is to provide a step for people to stand on to help them reach high up shelving or cupboards. The plinth will be able to be slotted underneath shelving or cupboards. The step will be driven out and pulled in by an electric motor which will change polarity to change direction of drive. There will be a timing circuit to retract the step if it has not be used for a specified time. There will also be a weight sensor to prevent the step from retracting whilst in use.

Description

POWER DRIVEN STEP PLINTH FOR SHET,VES AND CUPBOARDS DESCRIPTION The invention is for a flush fit plinth to fit under shelving or cupboards such a kitchen cupboards. In addition the plinth will be a box containing a extendible and retractable step about one foot in depth. This step will be powered by an electrical reversible motor which will sense when pressure is applied to the front of the step. The pressure will extend the step if retracted or retract the step if extended. The step will contain a pressure sensor to prevent retraction if some is standing on it. The step will retract automatically via a timing switch if it has not been used for a specific period. The base of the step will have castors to facilitate easy opening and closing.

Claims (1)

  1. a) The plinth will provide a power driven one foot deep step for people to stand on.
    b) The step will slide out when pressure is exerted on the concealed step front by a foot.
    c) The step will retract if it is not used for fifteen seconds or pressure is exerted on the front of the step by a foot.
    d) The step will not retract if there is weight placed on the step.
    e) The step will be powered by a motor which can reverse polarity to change direction of the drive.
    f) The plinth will be built to fit under shelving or cupboards.
    g) The base of the step will have castors to facilitate smooth opening and closing.
    h) The plinth will be suitable for both domestic and industial use (shops)
