Description

ADAPTOR FOR ATTACHING AN ADVERTISING SIGN OR ARTICLE TO A BEVERAGE DISPENSER This invention relates to an adaptor for attaching an advertising sign or other article to a beverage dispenser.
One well known form of beverage dispenser is used in bars for dispensing measures of wines or spirits from inverted bottles. Such a dispenser attaches to a vertical wall bracket which has a slot for securely receiving a flange on a measuring device. The measuring device has an inlet tube which can be fitted into the open neck of a bottle, suitably clamped to the bracket.
An adaptor in accordance with the invention comprises a body having a tongue for fitting into the slot in the bracket, and is formed with a slot for securely receiving the flange on the measuring device, the body being connected to a support for an advertising sign or other article.
An example of the invention is shown in the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1 is an elevation/section of the adaptor in position on a bracket and supporting a bottle on a measuring device, Figure 2 is a perspective view of the adaptor alone, andl Figures 3 and 4 are perspective views of alternative embodiments of the invention.
Referring to the drawings, the adaptor has a body 10 which is of generally S-shaped cross-sectional configuration. A lower horizontal limb 10a of the body forms a tongue and the other two horizontal limbs form between them a slot 10b. A spring-loaded plunger 11 is mounted on the upper limb of the body, the lower end of such plunger projecting into the slot 10b when at rest.
Integrally connected to the body 10 of the adaptor is a frame portion 12 in which there is an opening 12a.
In the example shown an arm 13 is attached to a wall of the frame portion 12 remote from the body 10, by spring clip portions 13a and the arm at its end has a portion 14 intended to mount an advertising device as generally described in our prior UK patent application No. 2280298.
To this end, the end portion 14 has a hole 15 for receiving a screw on the advertising device, and a raised rib 16a, 1 6b intended to be received in one of a plurality of different grooves in the back of the advertising device.
As shown in Figure 1, the tongue 10a is received in use by a slot in a lug 20 on a bracket 21. The slot is intended to receive the flange 22 of a measuring device 23 directly. A plunger 20a which is similar to plunger 11 projects into a hole in the tongue 10a and keeps it securely captive.
The plunger 11 likewise projects into a hole in the flange 22 which is received by the slot 10b, so as to hold the flange 22 securely captive.
An inlet tube 24 on the measuring device projects through the opening 12a in the frame portion 12 and is engaged in the neck of a bottle 25.
The adaptor described allows many different forms of advertising signs and other articles to be mounted on the brackets used for spirit measure type beverage dispensers. Since the form of the interacting parts of the lug 20 and flange 22 are common to many different designs of beverage dispensers from different manufacturers, the same adaptors can be used even when different dispensers are used side-by-side.
Although the example described has the arm 13 separate from the body/frame and clipped thereto, it is also possible to provide a device in which the arm and the end portion are both integral with the frame.
Figure 3 shows an alternative construction in which the frame depends downwardly from the body and has the ribs and holes for mounting the advertising device below the body. In Figure 4 the frame is replaced by a horizontal bar with a mounting for an advertising device at each end.

Claims (6)

1. An adaptor for use in attaching an advertising sign to a beverage dispenser of the type including a wall bracket which has a slot for securely receiving a flange on a measuring device having an inlet tube which can be fitted into the open neck of a bottle clamped to said bracket, said adaptor comprising a body having a tongue for fitting into the slot in the bracket, and is formed with a slot for securely receiving the flange on the measuring device, the body being connected to a support for an advertising sign or other article.
2. An adaptor as claimed in Claim 1 in which said tongue has a hole to receive a plunger on the bracket.
3. An adaptor as claimed in Claim 1 or Claim 2 in which a plunger is provided on said body to co-act with a hole in the flange received by said slot.
4. An adaptor as claimed in any preceding claim further comprising a frame portion connected to said body, an arm connected to said frame portion and an end portion on said arm adapted to co-act with an advertising device, whereby the advertising device can be supported in front of a bottle mounted on the bracket.
5. An adaptor as claimed in any of Claims 1 to 3 further comprising a frame depending from said body and adapted to support an advertising device disposed below the body.
6. An adaptor as claimed in any of Claims 1 to 3 further comprising a bar attached to the body and adapted at each end to support an advertising device.
