Abstract

A golf club strap 10 comprises a base member 12 to which are attached two flexible fingers 20 adapted to be wrapped around and secured to golf clubs 22, to form a bundle for storage or carrying. The strap 10 carries hook and loop fastening material 18,16 or buckles or press studs. Non-slip leather 14 is attached to the fingers 20 to facilitate the holding of the golf clubs 22.

Description

GOLF CLUB STRAP.
This invention relates to a strap which is used to hold or to bind golf clubs together for easy storage, and for carrying said golf clubs.
In golf, a golf bag is well-known for carrying and for the storage of golf clubs, but golf bags suffer from the disadvantage of being too big and bulky. This is of practical disadvantage at some practice grounds, and most golf driving ranges, where golf bags are not allowed because of their size, and for security reasons. So all of the golfers concerned have to carry their loose golf clubs by hand. Handling these loose clubs can be very difficult if you have a number of golf clubs that you intend to practice with. The same goes for the shopkeeper or golfer who have numerous golf clubs lying around, this golf club strap will allow them to keep a number of loose golf clubs together tidily.
The object of this invention is to provide a reusable strap for storing holding and for the carrying of golf clubs in an easy and convenient manner.
Accordingly this invention is provided with a non-slip piece of leather or any other synthetic material which is non-slip, which is adapted to hold the golf club shafts/stems tightly together. Also it is there to stop the clubs from slipping in wet or dry conditions, alternatively it may be made from any other suitable material for example like, rubber.
In a particularly preferred embodiment of the invention. The of fastening material, i.e. hooks and loops of the kind known as
golf club strap has strips VelcroVThese allow the ' strap to be fastened tightly around a number of conventional golf clubs. They also permit quick and easy adjustment for balancing and the positioning of the strap along the shafts or stem of the golf clubs.
Preferably the said fastening means aspect of the invention are located on the fingers of the golf club strap. Preferably, it would be better to have two fingers which are used in holding the golf clubs shafts, these would be connected to the base of the golf club strap, one at each end, and would preferable protrude out at right-angles from the base.
To hold and secure the clubs, the base of the strap lies on and down the golf club shafts or stems, with the non-slip inlay touching the shafts. The location of the strap is positioned somewhere in the middle of the golf clubs. Then the fingers of the golf club strap wrap around the non-slip inlay, which in turn wraps around the club shafts and by using the hooks and loops fasteners which in turn will secure the strap tightly in place.
This gives the user an easy method of picking up and carrying as well as the storing of the golf clubs, also making them easy to handle and manageable.
The invention will be described further by way of example, and reference to the accompanying drawings in which : Fig. 1 shows a perspective view of the golf club strap, which is laid out flat; Fig. 2 shows a side view of one of the fingers; Fig. 3 is a cross section end view of the golf club strap holding a cross section of five golf club shafts or stems.
Referring to the drawings Fig. 1, Fig. 2, and Fig. 3 they show a golf club strap 10. The golf club strap 10 comprises of a base member 12, which comprises of two piece's of webbing one on the top and one on the bottom, this is to make the base member 12 stiffer than the rest of the strap 10. An alternative for the base member 12 could be to use one thicker piece of webbing, or any other suitable material could be used for example plastic materials moulded to suit.
The fingers of the strap 20, need to bend as in Fig. 3, to hold the golf club shafts 22 firmly in place. The preferred amount of fingers 20 is two, alternatively this number of fingers could be greater or fewer. The holding of the shafts 22 is helped by using a nonslip piece of material like leather 14, which will grip the golf club shaftslstems 22 more firmly.
As in Fig. 3 when fastening the fingers 20, they must curve around the club shafts 22.
The fingers 20 are fastened and can be adjusted by the strips of hooks 18, and loops 16.
These hooks 18 are preferably situated on the bottom of both fingers 20, and the loops 16 are preferably situated on the opposite side of the fingers 20, which would be next to the non-slip leather 14.
The hooks 18 and loops 16 are of the kind known as "VelcroS the position of which can be adjusted.
It is preferred that all of the piece in the golf club strap 10, would be sewn into place, alternatively they could be attached by some other means, for an example you could use adhesive glues. The parts of the golf club strap 10 do not have to be fixed they could be removable, or be just partly attached.
In a particularly preferred embodiment of the invention the golf club strap 10, the base member 12 and the fingers 20 are made out of nylon or polypropylene webbing which is durable and waterproof. Alternatively they may be made out of any suitable material for example leather. For the fastening means 16 and 18 an alternative could be buckle's or any other suitable means of fastening, for example press studs which may be better used.
The invention as it shows gives a convenient way of storing and carrying a number of golf clubs in a simple and easy manner.
It should be understood that the invention is not intended to be limited to the details of the above description, with many variations and modifications being possible.
