Figure 1 shows a diagrammatic cross section through a card according to the first aspect of the present invention when folded;
Figure 2 shows a series of stages in the opening of the card shown in Figure 1;
Figure 3 shows a diagrammatic cross section through a card according to the second aspect of the present Invention when folded;
Figure 4 shows the series of steps in the opening of the card shown in Figure 3;
Figure 5 shows a diagrammatic cross section through a card according to the third aspect of the present invention when folded; and
Figure 6 shows the series of steps in the opening of the card shown in Figure 5.
The cards according to each aspect of the present invention may be printed on any suitable material and preferably the card is constructed from an appropriate card weight of paper material or the like on the surfaces of which is printed a short story after which the card is creased andlor folded ready for sale.
The card shown in Figures 1 and 2 which is in accordance with the first aspect of the present invention may be constructed from a single sheet of material which is folded after printing to form three leaves A, B and C respectively. The three leaves A, B and C form six surfaces (1, 2; 3, 6; and 4, 5 respectively). The first leaf
A being folded so that the second leaf B forms the back of the card, the third leaf C being folded between the leaves A and B. The first leaf A which constitutes the front cover of the card has on the surface 1 thereof the title and/or the beginning of the story. The second page of the story being printed on the other surface 2 of the leaf A and is read when the leaf A has been moved in the direction of the arrow 10.
The third page of the story is on the surface 3 of the leaf B. The surface being read when the third leaf C is moved in the direction of the arrow 14 to allow this page and the next page 4 to be read. The fifth page is read when the leaf C is returned in the direction of arrow 15. The story on the fifth sheets 5 preferably finishing at a point thereon so that a message from the sender of the card to the recipient can be inserted. Alternatively the story may terminate on the back 6 of the card if this is preferred. The sheet 6 can be read when the leaf C is turned in the direction of arrow 16.
An alternative construction of card shown in Figure 3 may be constructed from a single sheet of material formed into four leaves A, B, C and D which provide eight surfaces (2, 3, 1, 4; 5, 8 and 6, 7 respectively) upon which the story can be printed. The manner in which the card is folded after printing can be seen in Figure 4 which shows the unfolding sequence to allow the story on the card to be read. The title and beginning of the story is printed on the surface 1 of leaf B. Page 2 of the story is on the surface 2 of the leaf A. Page 3 is on the other surface 3 of the leaf
A, opening the leaf A in the direction of the arrow 1 7 to gain access to surface 3 also opens access to surface 4 on leaf B.The surfaces s and 6 on leaves C and D are available to be read when the leaf D is moved in the direction of the arrow 1 8.
When the leaf D is returned in the direction of the arrow 19 page 7 can be read, further movement of the leaves C and D in the direction of arrow 1 5 allows the surface 8 to be read. The story can terminate on page 7 and allow space for a personal message or it may finish on page 8.
