When r in appiied to a camera, the operation begins at step S100. At sthp S110. operation control unit 30 initializes the settings in the iapparatus shown in Fig. 1, including distance-acasuring unit lo, brightness-measuring unit 20, memory 40. and data display unit 50. Next, at step 5120, the state of release switch 51 is determined. If release switch S1 in not at first position S11, then step 5120 is repeated. However, If release switch 51 is at first position S11, then the operation proceeds to steb 5130.
At step 5130, operation control unit 30 directs distancemeasuring unit 10 to measure the distante. from the object and directs brightnessrmaslaring unit 20 to measure the br ightness of the object. in addition, at step S140f operation control unit 30 computes the photographic data corresponding to the distance and the brightnessr transforms the data into a data signal, and outputs the data signal to data display unit 50. The data signal includes an F-nr(PNo.) and a camer4 shutter speed in accordance with the distance frca the object and the brightness of the object, or with an operating coidition set up by the camera Furtheri at stop 140r data display unit 50 is driven by the data signal outputted from operation control unit 30, and displays the cc%uted photographic data.
At step 5150r the state of release switch S1 in again determined. If release switch S1 is nb.t at second position S12, then step S150 in repeated. Rowever,lf release switch S1 is at second posItion S12, then the operaticm proceeds to step 5160.
At step S160, it is determined whether the recording por-tioi is selected for storing the photographic data. If the recording portion has been selected, the operation proceeds to step S170 where the data is sequentially stored In the recording Portion. For example, it a photographer wets the reference number of the film cartridge to three by using the elect switch S2, then, operation control unit 30 stores the photographic data in a portion of memory 40 corresponding to thin third film cartridge. Thus, the photographic data includes the reference number of the film cartridge# the PNo.e the camera shutter speed, and the number of picture frums exposed on the film.
If the recording portion has not been selected, the operation moves to step S180 where the, photographic data is stored in an unu temporary portion od memory 40.
At step 5190, operation control unit 30 enables the camera to photograph the object by operating the shutter with the computed shutter speed.

The photographic data reproducing method according to the present Invention enables a photographer to know which photographic data corresponds to which photograph, after the photographic data has been recorded in the recording portion, as described above.
At stop S210r it in determined whbther reproduce switch 53 is in the ON state. If reproduce switch S3 is not in the ON stater step S210 in ropmated. nowevez, it reproduce switch S3 is in the ON state# the operation proceedo to step S220. Operation control unit 30 changes from the operation inode to the reproducing mode, at stop S220, and ignores the input signals except signals related to the reproducing operation, at step 5230.
Next. at step S240, operation control unit 30 enables display of all the reference nrs of the film cartridge on data dIsplay unit 50. Data display unit 50 sequentially displays all the reference nro at this stop. and thus, the photographer is able to select a reference nr of the film cartridge by operating act switch S4.
At step S250i it Is determined whether set switch S4 is in the ON state. It set switch 54 is not in the ON state, then step 5250 In repeated. Howver,, it act switch S4 is in the ON state, then the operation proceeds to step 5240.
At step 5260, operation control unit 30 reads the photographic data stored in the recordIng portion of memory 40 which is related to the selected reference nr, and displays the read data on data display unit 50. At this point, the data, Including the reference nr of the film cartridge selected at step S240f the PNo.p and.the shutter speed, are displayed on data display unit 50. Finally, when ratu= switch 55 is in the ON state, the reproducing mode ends at sthp S270.
As descri abovef since the photographic data for each film are stored in the memory of the cmaera, and are reproduced from the memory and displayed on the data display unit, the photographer can easily check photographic data corresponding to - a - a picture. Therefore the Photographer Can take a photograph having the same photographic data an any of the previously taken photographs, and need not Manually record the photographic data.
