Abstract
A wall mounted bicycle security bracket comprises a shaped steel bar and two steel collars, by which the bar is attached to a wall. The bracket may be turned to lie flush against the wall so that it does not protrude when not in use. When required, the bar is moved away from the wall and a bicycle attached to the bar by a lock or chain.
Description
DESCRIPTION
This invention relates to a wall-mounted bicycle security bracket.
Bicycle security brackets traditionally consist of a 'u' shaped steel bar, affixed to twin wall mountings. Such mountings are permanently fixed by means of conventional bolts, and the bar element, i.e. the part to which the bicycle itself is attached, is permanently fixed.
The disadvantage of such brackets is that they are relatively expensive and have limited application, especially in areas of high pedestrian traffic, due to the fact that they protrude from the wall and therefore constitute a hazard to pedestrians.
According to the present invention there is provided a steel bar shaped at either end into an elongated 'z'.
Each end is held in place against the wall by two steel collars at either end, which are bolted onto the wall by means of a flange at either side in which holes have been provided.
The shaped ends of the steel bar sit inside and between the two collars, thereby allowing lateral movement through 1800.
When not in use the bar can be swivelled round to lie flush against the wall. When required, the bar is moved into a position where a bicycle can easily be attached by means of a chain or security lock.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which
Figure 1 shows the bracket with bicycle attached.
Figure 2 shows the lock mechanism in greater detail.
Figure 3 shows the bracket, not in use, pushed back against the wall.
Claims (3)
1. A wall-mounted bicycle security bracket consisting
of three parts : a shaped steel bar and twin steel
collars with which the bar is attached to the
desired object.
2. A wall-mounted bicycle security bracket in which
the steel bar once in position, can be swivelled
laterally through 1800 to lie flush against the
object to which the bracket is attached.
3. A wall-mounted bicycle security bracket as
described herein with reference to Figures 1-3 of
the accompanying drawing.
