Abstract
The tool comprises a socket which is shaped internally so that it grips a radiator valve and has cut-outs so that it can engage a stop-cock type tap. The socket is engaged via a tongue with an extended handle at whose other end is disposed a pivoted extension which allows for greater torque to be applied to the handle.
Description
3. TITLE: MULTI PURPOSE KEY FOR ADJUSTING RADIATOR VALVES
AND WATER TAPS.
SPECIFICATION: THIS INVENTION RELATES TO A DEVIC @ FOR
FACILITATING THE OPERATION OF DOMESTIC RADIATOR VALVES, AND OTHER
WATER TAPS WHICH HAVE SEEN POSITIONED IN OBSCURE PLACES.
THE DEVICE CONSISTS OF THREE COMPONENT PARTS :- FIG 1 THE
SOCKET HEAD. FIG. 2 THE HINGED HANDLE FIG 3. THE HAND GRIP
DOMESTIC RADIATOR VALVES AND SOME MAINS OR OTHER WATER TAPS
ARE SOMETIMES POSITIONED S( THAT PEOPLE WHO ARE NOT EASILY ABLE
TO BEND DOWN, AND ALSO HAVE LITTLE POWER IN THEIR FINGER GRIPS
FIND IT IMPOSSIBLE TO OPERATE THE VALVE WHEN NEEDED: AND THIS
DEVICE WILL OVERCOME THIS PROBLEM .
THE SPECIFIC EMBODIMENT OF THE INVENTION WILL NOW BE DESCRIBED 3Y WAY OF @XAMPLE WITH REFERENCE TO THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWING IN
WHICH :
FIG 1 DESCRIBES THE DESIGN OF THE SCCKET HEAD
FIG 2 CONSISTS OF A HINGED HANDLE AND
FIG 3 IS A HAND GRIP OF SUITABLE MATERIAL FOR THE PURPOSE.
REFERRING TO THE DRAWING THE DEVICE IS ABLE TO ENGAGE A RANGE
OF VARIOUS SIZED DOMWESTIC RADIATOR CONTROI VALVES, DUE TO THE
SOCKET HEAD BEING FORMED WITH A FOUR SIDED TAPER CAVITY, WHICH WILL
ENGAGE THE PROJECTIONS ON THE VALVE HANDLES.
A THROUGH SLOT IS FORl.;ED IN THE OPEN EDGE OF THE SOCKET HEAD
TO ENGAGE THE BAR HANDLE OF IN-LINE WATER TAPS.
4.
THE SOCKET HEAD IS FORMED WITH A TONGUE TO ENGAGE A SLOT
IN THE END OF THE HANDLE TO GIVE A POSITIVE DRIVE.
THE OPPOSITE END OF THE HANDLE IS HINGED AS SHOWN IN FIGURE 2. SO THAT SUFFICIENT TORQUE CAN BE GIVEN WHEN OPERATING IN
LINE WATER COCKS.
THE HAND GRIP FIGURE 3. PROVIDES A COMFORTABLE OPERATION WHEN
THE DEVICE IS USED FOR DOMESTIC RADIATOR VALVES.
Claims (6)
1. AM AID TO THE OPERATION OF DOMESTIC RADIATOR CONTROL VALVES
IS PROVIDED THROUGH GREATER ACCESSIBILITY THROUGH THE DEVICE.
2. THE DEVICE PROVIDES EASY OPERATION OF OBSCURELY PLACED IN LINE
WATER BAR HANDLE COCKS
3. THE DEVICE THRONGH ITS HINGED HANDLE PROVIDES GREATER TORQUE
IN THE OPERATION OF STIFF IN LINE WATER BAR HANDLE COCKS.
4. THE DEVICE PRECLUD@S THE NECESSITY OF BENDING DOWN TO
OPERATE DOMESTIC RADIATOR CONTROL VALVES? IN THE CASE OF THE
ELDERLY AND INFIRM.
5. THROUGH ITS CASE OF OPERATION OF DOMESTIC RADIATOR CONTROL
VALVES, OWNERS WILL BE MORE INCLINED TO LOWER THE TEMP
ERATURE OF THEIR ROOMS WITHOUT UNDUE EFFORT.
6. TH@ DEVICE WILL HAVE POSITIVE USE FOR OPERATING UNDER
GROUND MAINS WATER COCKS.
