Description

A PACKING CASE FOR A LIGHTER SET The present invention relates to a packing case for a lighter set, especially which may be used as a packing case to display and sell a lighter, a leaflet and an operating manual in package.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION Generally a packing case for a lighter consists of an internal case made of polystyrene foam with a cavity to protect a lighter from damages and an external box made of the decorated cardboard or plastic to advertise the lighter.
But the traditional packing case for a lighter set typically entails certain disadvantages.
First, the production cost of a lighter is higher because the lighter is packed at least by two steps of packing processes.
Second, the waste is larger in proportion to the volume of the packing case because the packing materials is generally discarded after purchased.
Third, a lighter and a leaflet cannot be simultaneously displayed without unpacking because the lighter is packed by means of the opaque packing materials, such as styrofoam or paper.
Fourth, because the bottom of the lighter is narrow, the lighter is generally displayed with the wide rear surface laid down on the showcase. The lighter could not be displayed with the front surface erected on the showcase if there were no support for the lighter.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION The present invention employs a novel packing case for a lighter set to address these problems.
It is a principal object of the present invention to provide a packing case for a lighter set which has the lower production cost because a lighter and a leaflet are simply packed only at a time.
Another object of this invention is to provide a packing case for a lighter set which makes the waste to be discarded after purchased smaller.
Further object of this invention is to provide a packing case for a lighter set which is transparent so that a lighter and a leaflet may be simultaneously displayed without unpacking.
Further object of this invention is to provide a packing case for a lighter set which can be displayed vertically on the showcase without an additional support.
Briefly, a preferred embodiment of a packing case for a lighter set made of transparent plastic according to the present invention comprises a front cover having a front cavity for accommodating the front of a lighter and a leaflet cavity for accommodating a leaflet up the front cavity thereof; a rear cover having a rear cavity for accommodating the rear of the lighter on the front inner surface thereof and a protrusion including the coupling surface coupled to the wall of the leaflet cavity up the rear cavity thereof; and a bottom support, having a bottom cavity for accommodating the bottom of the lighter thereon, which is hingedly attached to the bottom edges of the front cover and the rear cover in such a manner that the front inner surface is securely contacted to the rear inner surface on fastening the wall to the coupling surface.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS FIG.1 is a perspective view of a packing case for a lighter set according to the present invention.
FIG.2 is a perspective view showing the half-opened packing case.
Fig.3 is a perspective view showing the setting position of a lighter and a leaflet.
FIG.4 is a cross sectional view taken on line A-A of FIG.1.
FIG.5 is a cross sectional view taken on line B-B of FIG.1.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION A packing case(1) for a lighter set according to the present invention is made of transparent plastic.
As shown by Fig.1, Fig.2 and Fig.3, a packing case(1) for a lighter set includes a front cover(10) and a rear cover(20) which are connected to a bottom support(30) therebetween. The front cover(10) has a front cavity(12) for accommodating the front of a lighter(2) on the front inner surface(11) thereof. The rear cover(20) has a rear cavity(22) for accommodating the rear of the lighter(2) on the rear inner surface(21) thereof.
The depths of the front cavity(12) and the rear cavity(22) are respectively about a half of the thickness of the lighter(2) so that the lighter(2) may be tightly inserted between the front cavity(12) and the rear cavity(22) if the front inner surface(11) of the front cover(10) is in contact with the rear inner surface(21) of the rear cover(20).
The bottom support(30) has a bottom cavity(32) for accommodating the bottom of the lighter(2) thereon. The lowest surface of the bottom cavity(32) is preferably a little higher than the virtual bottom surface including the bottom rim(31) so that the lowest surface of the bottom cavity(32) is not directly contacted with the surface of the showcase.
The bottom support(30) is hingedly attached to the bottom edges of the front cover(10) and the rear cover(20) in such a manner that the front inner surface(11) of the front cover(10) is securely contacted to the rear inner surface(21) of the rear cover(20) on fastening the wall(17) to the coupling surface(27).
The front cover(10) also has a leaflet cavity(13) for accommodating a leaflet(3) up the front cavity(12) thereof. The rear cover(20) also has a protrusion (23) including the coupling surface(27) coupled to the wall(17) of the leaflet cavity(13) up the rear cavity(22) thereof. The depth of the leaflet cavity(13) is a little longer than the height of the protrusion(23). If the coupling surface(27) is inserted into the wall(17), the front inner surface(11) of the front cover(10) is contacted to the rear inner surface(21) of the rear cover(20) in the virtual vertical plane including the ridge(37) of the bottom support(30) and the space for accommodating the leaflet(3) is produced between the leaflet cavity(13) and the protrusion(23) as shown by Fig.4 and Fig.5.
The upper surface of the bottom support(30) is two inclined surfaces(33)(34). A first inclined surface(33) is faced with the front inclined surface(14) of the front cover(10) and a second inclined surface(34) is faced with the rear inclined surface(24) of the rear cover(20).
There are three right reinforcement planes(16)(26)(36), that is, a front right reinforcement plane(16) including the right edges of the front inner surface(11) and the front inclined surface(14); a rear right reinforcement plane(26) including the right edges of the rear inner surface(21) and the rear inclined surface(24); and a bottom right reinforcement plane(36) including the right edges of two bottom inclined surfaces(33)(34). The front cover(10), the rear cover(20) and the bottom support(30) also have the left reinforcement planes (not drawn) respectively on the left side. The right and left reinforcement planes(16)(26)(36) respectively form an isosceles triangle as a whole on fastening the wall(17) to the coupling surface(27) as shown by Fig.4.
Supporting plates(18)(28)(38) to prevent reinforcement planes(16)(26)(36) from being distorted is formed at about 90" angles to reinforcement planes(16)(26)(36).
Holes(4) for hangers may be formed at the upper portions of the front cover(10) and the rear cover(20). Indicators(5) for showing the opening position may be formed at the right or left of the upper portions of the front cover(10) and the rear cover(20).
After the bottom of the lighter(2) is inserted into the bottom cavity(32) and a leaflet(3) is put in the leaflet cavity(13), a lighter set is easily packed in the packing case(1) on fastening the coupling surface(27) to the wall(17). The wall(17) of the leaflet cavity(13) and the coupling surface(27) of the protrusion(23) respectively have such a large area that the case(1) may be producted with the larger allowable error because the front cover(10) and the rear cover(20) are closely coupled by partial contacting of the wall(17) and the coupling surface(27).
Because the case(1) has the larger bottom support(30) than the bottom of the lighter(2), the lighter(2) may be displayed vertically. One may see the lighter(2) and an advertising leaflet(3) simultaneously without opening the packing case(1) because the case(1) is made of transparent plastic. If the leaflet(3) showing the flame of the lighter(2) is packed to the upper space of the lighter(2), it can stimulate the customer's interest. A usage for the lighter or a written guarantee of quality can be attached in the leaflet(3).
The depth of the front cavity(12) is equal to that of the rear cavity (22), so the lighter(2) is situated in the middle space of the case(1). Because the bottom of the lighter(2) is very slightly detached from the surface of the showcase as much as the lighter(2) is not directly contacted with the showcase, the mass center of the case(1) is very little elevated. Though the lowest surface of the bottom cavity (32) is formed near the virtual bottom surface including the bottom rim(31), the case(1) has such a large bottom that the case(1) may be effectively displayed on the small area and the waste generated by the purchased case(1) is also reduced.
However the leaflet(3) is dropped when the case(l) is opened by force, the lighter(2) inserted into the bottom cavity(32) is not dropped.
Reinforcement planes(16)(26)(36) primarily prevent the case(1) from being distorted and protect the lighter(2) from the damage on the lighter's dropping or falling down. The isosceles triangular shape of right or left reinforcement planes (16)(26)(36) may make strong impression on the customers.
Supporting plates(18)(28)(38) primarily prevent reinforcement planes(16)(26)(36) being distorted. Because supporting plates(18)(28)(38) enable the case(1) with the front or rear cover(10)(20) laid down to be heaped up in turns, cases(1) may be heaped as many as possible.
